3,528 Americans Dead From No Health Insurance Since Obama Took Office
3,528 Americans have died since Obama took office because they have no health insurance.
I've bumped the daily number from 55 to 56 in recognition of the increasing number of people who are losing their health insurance as they lose jobs. I still think the number is low, but it will have to do for now.
The basic calculations are based on studies presented here.

THIS HAS TO BE REPORTED. It is not fun to read and probably no fun to write.
But I was just thinking of you the last couple of days and in my ignorance mixed you up with KateO, someone else I like to read. I just tell you this because I meant to quote you.
This carnage must stop. And it wont unless we talk about it, and protest about it, and contact our representatives about it.

You are right that it's no fun to post these numbers. I'm here at TPM for this one issue. I don't expect people to comment on the numbers each time I post them. I know that a group here does recommend the post to keep the issue going. That's why I put the number in the title of the post.
You are right that we all have to do something to get our government to act in our interest. This is about saving lives.
This is what I can do now.

With the exclusion of single payer health folks from the healthcare talks in the senate and Obama's summits, looks grim for a lot of folks. In fact, senate jailed a few supporters this week.
Looks like our fearless leaders more worried about protecting Wall street profits than the common folks.
I looked at that study long ago and it is flawed. It makes too many false assumptions and the death toll is far higher.
This also does not count the death toll from the insurance companies saying "no" to valid healthcare claims. It seems few wish to know the real truth and numbers.
I support HR676 and so does my little Soar (retired steelworker) band that demand healthcare for Americans. Quality Healthcare is a right and not anything else
