Thank you, Robert Reich

. . . for doing in 70 seconds what the President has been unable to do in two months: explain the public option.  And thank you, TPM, for facilitating this.

Yes, I know the video is 150 seconds long, but after the 70-second mark Reich debunks lies and implores action.  It only took 70 seconds to explain the public option.  I knew it could be done.  A few more of these videos, and maybe this will turn around.

(BTW, when typing "debunk" I accidentally spelled it "bedunk," which sounds funny to me.)

Yes. A simple explanation. It is a propaganda war out there for the most part. And quick and sharp and clear explanations are of import.

The most simple bill of all would be as follows:

As of the calender year 2010 Medicare shall be available to all those 60 and older.

As of the calendar year 2012 Medicare shall be available to all those 55 and over.

As of the calendar year 2014 Medicare shall .....

And then this gem has to be added:

All those earning through wages, pensions, stocks, bonds... in excess of $250,000 during any calendar year...are not eligible for medicare benefits

This one may need a little tweaking, but I agree there are probably some people who should not be eligible, and perhaps others would need to buy in at a higher rate...

If they have been paying their entire life, then why exclude them? I really don't care if Medicare treats the wealthy. I just want everyone to be able to get treatment. I think employers should have a higher burden based on the number of employees, but those funds come from corporations, not individuals. The system will have a real efficiency and the greatest economies of scale when everyone is included.
