What the $%^& is up with all the %$^@ profanity?
Is it just me or have there been a lot of headlines on here lately with $*%&^%' profanity in them? Don't get me wrong, I'm no prude, but can't we have some civil discourse on this site like we used to?

I started out swearing all the time. It released something in me. I have been swearing off of it recently--forgive the pun--but ever so often I throw in naughty word or two. Joan Walsh of all people was naughty the other day at Salon. But it was kind of funny and it sort of worked in the context of her rant.
Obscenity CAN WORK, but only sometimes. We get too carried away and I think it loses its punch.
Thanks for the post, I recommended it because sometimes we must be reminded that social standards are not totally passe.

When was there ever civil discourse here?

Only in the Civil Courts. Judges do not like the f word. Unless they are in their private clubs or whorehouses.

It's all these f%#king dimwitted d*&kheads whose prose falls short of manifesting in a c*%ks&@king meaningful way. Probably think you and I are quidnuncs, every s&%thead one of them! D*%n them!

I think there's a difference between profanity and vulgarity. Often times, profanity is necessary to convey the tenor and the intent of the remark. Vulgarity is mostly superfluous and often shocking.

We, members of the Vulgar People's Front, find this comment offensive.

I missed this Quinn. I am going to bed now.
But somehow I knew that you would be heard on this.
By the way, it is too late, but did you ever make it home. I understand you did get to celebrate with your kith and kin.

This commenter obviously does not represent the VPF. His comment, while superfluous, is distinctly lacking in shock value.

Power outage here last night. Government restricted the use of highly shocking terms.
"Oh poo" is about all I got left.

It is at about 2:57 into the clip. Stinking hilarious. We should deal will all profanity this way. LOL
