If Only They Could Still Use The N Word
At first I thought the Wright issue was legitimate. Wright's comments were disgusting, and Obama not only attended the church, but took his children there every Sunday, or however frequently he attended church. Nothing that Wright said ever caused Obama to publicly repudiate Wright or leave the Church.
I never thought that Obama shared Wright's belief that the government invented AIDS to kill black people, or any of the other absurdities that Wright spewed. I thought it was probably the case that Obama didn't even attend church that frequently. I thought the significance of the story was that Obama was like so many other politicans, a member of a church primarily for the political organization it provided, not it's theology.
I still think that's the case, but I don't think that's the why the media is playing it anymore. I could not believe Anderson Cooper last night. I don't think they spent 20 minutes on the tornados and the rest on Wright. He kept replaying clips of Wright's speeches over and over again. Then I realized that they're not making the point that Obama is as much a politican as the next senator. The point that is being made is," This is what black people say when white people aren't around."
The story is now being played to associate Obama with the worst sterotypes that white people have about black people.
I don't want Obama to be the nominee. I support Hillary. But I can recognize this is disgusting.
