I am currently visiting my parents, who live in the upstate of South Carolina (Greenville-Spartanburg area). I was surprised this afternoon when I saw ads for Barack Obama and John McCain's campaigns on a South Carolina broadcast TV station. To be fair, I know that his area's broadcast area includes NE Georgia and Western NC. However, this means that South Carolinian voters are actually seeing commercials from general election candidates for President for the first time in many years. I wouldn't suggest that Barack Obama could win South Carolina outright, however, I believe strongly that he will carry a larger percentage of the vote this time compared to Clinton, Gore, or Kerry.

You must read this book. It is eye-opening, and really made me stop to think what my party stands for. Democrats have for the most part stuck to the grand ideas of the New Deal and the Great Society for 74 years. In this new world of globalization (that is NOT going away) we must argue for a NEW new deal.
