100 Million Man and Woman March

I have been thinking what I would do if I thought this election was stolen.  Mind you, I think we have a better than 99% chance of winning and maybe a 1/10 of 1 % chance of election theft by the Republicans.  But, I don't trust them.  I don't.

Many of my friends are talking about their hope to go to DC on Jan 20 to have some 1 inch of the limelight during the inaugural proceedings.  I don't expect I would do that.

But, I will do this, I think.  If I wake up on Nov 5 with a feeling that this election was stolen, I will not go to sleep in my bed.  I will be in DC, in front of the Capital, demanding that the theft be corrected.

If those Rovian fools even think they can treat us like the serfs of some banana republic, they had better be ready for face-to-face democracy.

Sometimes I wonder if in 2000 the Republicans just wanted the presidency so much more than the Dems, and won it because they were prepared to go to greater lengths to get it.

Marquis:
I'll meet you there on the steps of the Supreme Court. I'll bring a lawyer I know who once argued a case before the SC and won. In fact, let's bring all the lawyers we know. We finally have a good use for them; they can be redeemed.

Sounds like a plan. I am warming up the ATV's right now. I can bring some friends too.

I already told one black lady at the time of the primaries that if they try to steal another election, the black community will rise up - and "we will rise up with you!"

Yes, if they tried it, we'd "rise up" and how!

We won't let them do it a third time. No, we won't allow that to pass.

Were you in Denver for the Democratic Convention or St. Paul for the Republican convention? They ARE ready.

They are READY. They are. They have brought combat troops back from Iraq and put them on stand-by here in the "Homeland" for exactly this contingency.

Don't you remember what happened in Tienanmen Square? If not, Google it.

A massive "march on Washington" will be easily interdicted and suppressed, with enough force to intimidate everyone who objects to another rigged election. So what else can be done?

I have been advocating a general strike. But after experiences canvassing and campaigning "on the street," it is clear that McCain's strongest supporters---or rather, Obama's most extreme opponents---are the white members of the industrial and agricultural workforce---which means, a large percentage of the men and women whose participation would be essential if such a strike were to be effective.

In fact, if Obama is declared the winner, we'd better hope that this deeply antagonistic element doesn't decide themselves to stage a general strike. Clearly, the smokescreen about "ACORN voter fraud" is meant to rile up and invite disputation, and more than that, disruption---if Obama claims victory.

They stole 2000. And 2004. Don't let Republicans steal any more.

When I asked Howard Dean last winter why there wasn't more attention being paid to the risk of vote suppression and election theft, he replied that they would have plenty of lawyers this time. That's very nice, but the lawyers didn't help Al Gore, did they? Why expect a different result this time???? It will take more than lawyers to win this.

Maybe a coordinated march on STATE CAPITOL buildings---where the electoral votes are actually cast---would be a better tactic than an attempted march on the all-too-readily-defended national capital city. Also, logistics for the demonstrators would be easier to plan and manage.

I hear you. Today I felt like the way they are hammering the Acorn issue, the words that were used I can't remember right now, but I felt like they were positioning themselves to fight a close call too.

I was thinking about goingo to DC, if necessary, tonight on my way home. I was envisioning the V for Vendetta scene where everyone shows up in their V costumes. I need to check and see if I have the miles to fly out there. We may have to delay further than the 5th if the votes are still being counted...etc. that is if it is close.

Hopefully we will all be blissfuly and peacefully sleeping off a long night of partying on the 5th!!

Everyone go out tomorrow and buy Naomi Wolf's book: Give Me Liberty. It gives all of us the tools we will need if they try to steal this election again.

That said, we may not have a chance to "organize" very much - people will be hitting the streets almost immediately out of anger, I predict. And it won't just be African-Americans. We'll all be there.

A massive march would be impressive, but I agree that coordinated marches on state capitols would be even more effective. It would be easier for folks that can't easily hop a plane and get to DC to participate and if organized right, we could literally shut down the state governments.

Hopefully, we won't have to do any of this. The real key is turnout. The reason they got away with this before is low turnout. The higher the turnout the less chance for them to manipulate the votes - that's why they are so concerned about suppressing turn-out by purging voter rolls, etc.
