I am not sure how reliable the Washington Post is as I don't normally read it. However watching Larry King Live tonight I noticed that there was talking point by a McCain supporter referencing an article by Matthew Mosk and Sarah Cohen where they lay out that:
"Lost in the attention given to Obama's Internet surge is that only a
quarter of the $600 million he has raised has come from donors who made
contributions of $200 or less, according to a review of his FEC reports."
However, in an article dated October 5th 2008 Matthew Mosk had some different numbers...
"At the heart of the RNC complaint is a federal fundraising rule that
lets campaigns accept donations under $200 without itemizing the names
and addresses of the donors on its campaign finance reports. The rule
was intended as a matter of practicality -- it did not seem reasonable
to ask a campaign to gather that information from every five-dollar
donor.
But the Obama campaign has raised more than $200 million this way, a
staggering sum for donations that will not be subjected to outside
scrutiny."
So if the Obama campaign has raised $200 million from small donors, how is that 1/4 of $600 million?

This would be the game changer the Obama campaign needs!
Sink $10 million into an ad that talks about the McCain/Palin ticket's plan to overturn Roe v. Wade, and provide McCain's vote on
Biden's Law as finisher!
Come on! Let's win this thing!

If you're like me, you're probably asking WTF?
This story is true however...Not only does McCain support charging victims of rape for the forensic testing, but so does Palin. Alaska had to pass a law specifically requiring her town of Wasilla is take that particular law of the books.
Crazy, huh?
In 1994, John McCain voted against
legislation -- pushed through Congress by Joe Biden -- that helped put
an end to the practice of charging rape victims for sexual assault
exams.
Twisted as it may sound, charging victims for a forensic exam was a real problem. For example, as AMERICAblog has documented (and the media is now reporting), when Sarah Palin was mayor of Wasilla, the town charged rape victims for the exams.
Biden's legislation required that state, local, and Indian
governments provide the rape exams to victims free of charge as a
condition of receiving federal funds under the Violence Against Women
Act. In 2000, Alaska finally passed state legislation in order to qualify for federal funding.
McCain not only opposed Biden's legislation, but also has voted against funding it as recently as October 2007.

ABC
News' George Stephanopoulos reports: Democratic presidential nominee
Barack Obama raised more than $66 million in August, marking a record
fundraising month for his campaign.
The campaign also added 500,000 new donors during the month.
Previously, the campaign's best fundraising month was February of
this year, in the midst of the heated primary with Sen. Hillary
Clinton, D-N.Y., when they tallied $55 million in donations.
This is amazing! Not the $66 mill particularly, but the 500,000 new donors! I know the media prefers a close race because it makes better news, but I think there are factors that aren't getting much traction that would show that this race is not as tight as they saying it is...new voters/young voters/black voters, and enthusiasm....

Via The Daily Show, it is an excellent composite of Bush and McCain's acceptance speech...

We noticed last week that it was awfully peculiar that Colorado’s U.S. Attorney, Troy Eid,
had so airily dismissed conspiracy charges against the three
white-supremacist tweakers who were caught planning to assassinate
Barack Obama at last week’s Democratic National Convention in Denver.
..............................
Even more significant, beyond the details of the plot, was the fact that, as the Colorado Independent notes, the FBI asked for more serious charges to be filed and were turned down.
....................
Another
funny thing: When a black man in prison sent a threatening letter
containing baby powder to John McCain, Troy Eid brought down the full
force of the law, complete with press conferences and public
declarations that "We won't stand for threats of this kind in Colorado."
But
when it’s a claque of white men with rifles, disguises, and all the
accoutrement of a conspiracy – as well as open admissions to it – Troy
Eid isn’t worried. After all, they just a bunch of harmless, tweakers,
right? … Just like little Timmy McVeigh.
..............................
Based
on the evidence, FBI special agent Robert Sawyer believed there was
probable cause to charge the men with conspiracy to kill Senator Obama.
However, US Attorney Troy Eid last week said there is insufficient
evidence to indicate a true threat, plot or conspiracy against the
senator.
Fire Dog Lake has the story.

COURIC: He believes that should be overturned. That’s what he told me, and that it should go to the states.
CINDY McCAIN: Well, in that respect, yes. Yeah, it is–that–I
understand what you’re saying, that is a states issue. Absolutely.
Definitely.

I know it's possible...but do you think they would do it? Thinking about the curfuffle with the PUMA folks, and can only think that the Republicans would arrange for people to head down a bolster the crowd and make that as big of a story as possible...
I wouldn't rule it out! I watched Hardball earlier this week, and a Hillary supporter was on and when asked who she voted for in 2000 and 2004 she sounded caught off-guard....she eventually responded with Al Gore and Wesley Clark but it was definitely suspect.
