It was well done, moving. I had tears in my eyes watching it.
I do pray he will win the election. Day after day, he is proving why he should be elected.

Anytime, good-lookin'. What did you think?

Generally, I think it was a good thing, and I hope it works.
(Wet towel warning:) But--I could have done with less soaring strings, less Copland-sounding chord progressions, less slowly-moving camera. I like the "fireside chat" idea, but this is a little propagandistic to my taste (not that there's anything inherently wrong with that).

I would have preferred more live, direct talking to voters rather than the produced stuff. I was also hoping for some pie charts like Ross Perot (but minus Perot's nuttiness). But it was good overall. And they picked excellent personal stories.

Thanks for posting this - I got confused on the time - 8pm Eastern, not Central - I was one hour too late! I was crushed that I missed it - I've been looking forward to it all day.

The undelying theme, IMO was "my story is the American story, and BECAUSE that is true, I will help you and here is how." It was effective I would hope.

I'd vote for the guy.

I think it was a homerun, and remove the "can he connect story?"

Fabulous. Pure and simple. If someone missed out the last 21 months of Obama's campaign this edited version for the attention deficient will do the trick. I expect a poll bounce for Obama and a new round of pointless hate calls by McCain.
say the same, say it with shame
PALIN/mccain? 2008

Thanks for the post and link.
It was good, better than I expected. If there were no other reasons for voting for Obama, I would vote for him simply for what he said beginning at 26:30.

Lots of good stuff in the infomercial, and it may have sealed the deal for some on-the-fence voters.
What knocked me out was the switch to the live Florida speech for the last two or three minutes.
Very effective, but technically risky and totally gratuitous. It was the Obama campaign's grace note: "We're so good, we can pull off stuff like this even at a crucial moment in the campaign."
And it worked. The canned-show-turned-live-event ended -- on a high note -- precisely on schedule.
Head and shoulders above the McCain campaign's internal disarray.
Alexrod and company were strutting their stuff. But hey, they've earned the right.
Masterful.

Yeah, HOW did they pull that live thing off?!?
If you go over to Huffington Post they have the last 3 minutes.
As far as the infomercial itself goes...granted, a lot of that stuff was seen at the DNC, but it will certainly resonate with undecideds. The one thing that Obama has done so well is emphasize how we as a country are in this together--he always says "we" instead of I, uses personal stories and stories of others to show that he really gets it, and let's face it...the guy just makes sense. You can't say anything bad about it, but I'll bet Tucker Bounds will go on some rant about public financing tomorrow.

Yup. Knocked it out of the park. We can all say "not enough of this, too much of that," but it doesn't matter - nobody else has done this kind of thing, as well as this. Net gain, ate up 24 hours of the clock, hit Florida and Penn - just wins all around.

This was Obama for those who haven't been following his every word for the past 20 months... it was not for the "faithful" (though I enjoyed every second), but for those who haven't been paying attention until just now.
I thought it was wonderful. Great, just great, and powerfully effective.

I confess I cried. No boo hoos, but hot tears leaking out. After seeing the lady rubbing her arthritic fingers with ointment, I said, 'Okay, I'm fine now.'
But, then it began again. I realized these were tears of pride, hope for better times for all, sadness that our government has let so many down and the list goes on.
It wasn't a perfect thirty minutes, and as Obama said, he won't be a perfect President, but you know - it gave me a perfectly wonderful feeling that together, yes, we can!

One of the best moments was when he said to that one older gentleman: "You earned your pension." That guy really needed someone to acknowledge that.
Very powerful.
(I only wish he had followed up by saying he would not let anyone privatize Social Security instead of going into a general economic plan)

I agree, that was the part that affected me the most. The guy's facial expression -- what was it, gratitude for being listened to and told his concerns were real? So simple, but it was moving.

I think this was important because he had the ability and funds to do it and it gives a chance for some people to take in facts and maybe, just maybe judge Senator Obama for themselves. Especially those who are afraid or unsure because they don't know him.
He is a class act and a reflection of our better nature and america's better nature.
Tonight w/Bill Clinton at the rally in Florida he stated that we should not pay attention to polls and we need to keep making phone calls and working to get people voting.

Well I'm an incorrigible Obama fangirl. It's awful nice feeling like this about a candidate, too, so I'm not sorry I am.
I thought the production values were superb, it wasn't boring, it was moving and he made his entire case about who he is, what he wants to do and why he wants to be president.
And I cried.
I can't listen to him talk about how we're one America without getting teary.
It was well done.

I watched with my 9-year old and we both thought it was well done, moving and fun.
I thought that this was another small step toward an Obama election (I hope, in spite of stock index surge), which would be a historic and surely welcome step for America. As well as beneficial for us all!
My daughter thought that the clips underscored that McCain is clearly a bad man, since he has falsely attacked Obama.

Like just about everything Barack Obama does, he's left me feeling like a kid with a crush rather than the cynical self (M.A., American history) who's never supported a candidate with the full depths of my heart and intellect. That guy just gets it in every way, and he knows how to express it.
I voted for him this morning.
P.S.: for any who have not yet read "Dreams from My Father," do so this week. It was what made me go from liking him (via his 2004 DNC keynote address) to being fully on board from before he announced his candidacy. That book is an absolute masterpiece, even if he never went into politics. You get a good look at his thought process and how it evolved through his youth. One of the best memoirs I've ever read.
