A Dignified Approach For Dems To The Choice Of Palin
I've been thinking over the past day how the VP thing must be turned into a major issue by the Dems. But it has to be done right or it'll backfire for all the obvious reasons. So instead of going after Palin, how about ignoring her (she's bound to implode on her own anyway) and going with a full bore PR campaign that elevates the office of the VP, and using the incredibly strong Democratic bench to do so? I'm thinking of a series of commercials set in the same style as those convention films that profile the candidate right before they speak, with our Democratic stars speaking on the importance of the VP office and what that office means to them. And those stars should be PRESIDENT Clinton and VICE PRESIDENT Al Gore, and of course Joe Biden and Obama. They all get to be very dignified and above the fray all the while reminding folks how Palin is unqualified without ever mentioning her name. Hillary can't do one because it would be a reminder that she wasn't picked. One could even be done with PRESIDENT Carter, but only show it in markets where it tests well. Those should be the national ads. State only ads then could also done with particular Democratic stars of each state McCaskill in Missouri, Bayh in Indiana, and so on.
