The Conservative Bible Project
Rod Dreher of Belief.net offers further analysis
of a budding new Wiki project to rewrite the Holy Bible to eliminate
what some young conservatives apparently now view as liberal bias in
the scriptures (via Harpers; also blogged on MetaFilter).

Whoa!
Hasn't that book been re-written a number of times already?
Fascinating.
When will they finally get it right?

I love it!
The morons who have beeninsisting that every word in the Bible is literally true are now censoring it! What a hoot!
I can see it now...
"Thou shalt not kill"
I don't think so. How about this instead?
"Kill."

Kirk Cameron made a new, sexy, maybe leather Origin of the Species: the correct version! and is distributing 55,000 of them. His new ad is a pip.

Saw that a few days ago. Man... that guy is a lost ball in high weeds. (From this point forward, I'll avoid sports metaphors)
Seriously weird stuff he's into.

With each passing year of this madness that is "Christian Conservatism" I am more and more convinced that if these people fear the world and everyone in it so much that they would rather see it end than continue, then they really should buy and island and start their own nation.
The people that use this particular demographic to gain power and influence, but aren't "true believers" should be tarred and feathered and sent to Dubai where they belong.

I think you are absolutely on the mark about the "conservative Christians". They are absolutely terrified by the world we live in. Pretty sad isn't it? Even with all the problems and difficulties I find this world endlessly fascinating, exciting and beautiful. What a pity they are unable to appreciate what a magnificent place of possibility this planet can be.

I do pity them.
I think they suffer from terminal loneliness. For some, loneliness is so unbearable an imaginary friend is their only option. Being alone (or just feeling along) is just too painful, especially if you don't really like yourself in the first place.
But building your entire life around religious and political mythology is dangerous to the rest of us.
The bible is already a product of political editing, why not update the spin? There is literally nothing else left to spin. Maybe its a good sign they think the Bible is fair game...

Ah HA !!! So it is NOT the divine work of God after all. But rather some liberal propaganda that must be edited so remove those progressive bits that may infect the righteous and have them doing the work of the devil.

And on a similar note. If these folks are so convinced of Divine Creation - why then do their policies follow the precepts of social Darwinism where only the strongest, most fit and chosen should survive ?

I say let them go on with their bad self. At this point I would rather the fucknuts clearly identify themselves so I can avoid them, i.e. wear a sign.
