Tipping

On Salon userblogs, they have a feature where you can tip someone if you especially like their posts.  Well, obviously you can't do that over here at TPM, but if you feel an incredible urge to give my family some money, buy this book.  Or this one.  Both are written by real, California progressives, and both are helping finance my ScholarShare account.

*Late Update: This is intended to be mildly humorous.  I'm not expecting massive numbers of people to go buy my parent's books or something (though it would be nice!).

*Later Update:  To those who still don't get it:  IT'S A JOKE!!!!!!!  I am subtly parodying Salon's tipping system by pretending that I feel entitled to money for writing not-so-great user posts on Talking Points Memo!  Would some emoticons help? ;-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-);-)

Getting the opposite desire since you've been cluttering the lists with one-sentence or one-paragraph posts.

The problem is that every post shoves the previous ones down. Save it up, be a friend to the community.

Oops, that last comment was supposed to be a reply. Oh well.

"It is with words as with sunbeams. The more they are condensed, the deeper they burn." ~Robert Southey, whomever that may be

BURN! (Laughs immaturely)

I must agree with Tom Wright. Your posts seem more appropriate for social networking sites.

Shilling your family's books, I think, is really inappropriate. Buy ad space.

It's a joke! I really find it hard to believe that anyone is going to go and buy these books because this person they never heard of mentioned them humorously on his MyTPM blog.

Just so you know, we do want to do "tipping" ala Salon at some point. It's a very nice little feature they have.

Really? Wow... and thanks for reading my stuff... Andrew? Mr. Golis? And by the way, I would have thought that humor came more readily to someone who multiple-posts posts about not-multiple-posting (which I do think is funny, by the way). And technically, because of the addition of the Following/Followers tool, this is a social networking site- "Any of several websites that provide a virtual community in which people with a shared interest may communicate" (courtesy of Wiktionary, and no, I didn't edit it before I posted the definition).
