Wackenhut Butt-Crack Orgies in Kabul

From the Guardian...

Hillary Clinton has received a dossier from an independent watchdog group in Afghanistan "claiming that the security guards at the embassy had been engaged in drunken parties involving prostitutes and the kind of ritual humiliation associated with gang initiation. Pictures and video footage were attached to the dossier."

The dossier, compiled by the independent investigative group Project on Government Insight, includes an email allegedly from a guard currently serving in Kabul describing scenes in which guards and supervisors are "peeing on people, eating potato chips out of [buttock] cracks, vodka shots out of [buttock] cracks (there is video of that one), broken doors after drnken [sic] brawls, threats and intimidation from those leaders participating in this activity".

The group at the centre of the new allegations are the ArmorGroup, part of the Florida-based Wackenhut group, one of the biggest private security organisations in the US.

Whenever I think I am getting too cynical, I always count on your posts to remind me that I have so far still to go.

Thank you.

Always glad to oblige. Now shut up and pass the potato chips!

"Harharharhar!!!"

"Why are you laughing?"

"I don't know what else to do."

For some reason, the embedded video doesn't work, (for me). I used to think the use of contractors insulated the gumint from direct accountability via plausible deniability. It's looking like it may be quite the opposite, unless of course, you're actually whacking somebody as opposed to shagging them. It ain't easy living free...

Here's a direct link to the video...

...direct accountability via plausible deniability.

Forget about deniability. Reality isn't even plausible.

It's just a nightmare that all of us happen to share.

At the risk of being misinterpreted... you're beautiful.

Yes. Teeth and all.

Great line.

Here's the letter from POGO to Sec. Clinton. I can't imagine writing such a letter to Sec. Clinton.

And here's a story which includes pictures (eyes are blotted out to protect the privacy of the guilty, because ABC didn't get permission from the frat boys prior to publication):

"They were not gay, but they knew what it took to get promoted," said the guard, [speaking] on condition that ABC News not publish his name.

In other words, the only thing they were concerned about was whether anyone would think they were GAY. Meanwhile, people were getting blown up on their watch.

The State Department said it was investigating the allegations and circumstances surrounding the photographs which show naked and barely clothed men fondling one another.

Remember, these men are NOT GAY.

The guard who spoke with ABC News said the drunken parties had been held regularly for at least a year and a half.

Wait. It gets better...

The State Department renewed its contract with ArmorGroup to provide security at the Kabul embassy last month even though there have been a series of complaints about its performance.

Just fucking unbelievable.

Thanks for the link, gasket.

The Project On Government Oversight (POGO) initiated an investigation after nearly one-tenth of the U.S./ex-pat 6 guards individually contacted us...

Since there are 450 guards working at the embassy, that means that about 40 of them complained to this NGO about brutalization in their camp, but for some strange reason...

Neither Hillary Clinton or Richard Holbrooke knew anything about it.

This isn't too hard to believe for a diplomatic newbie like Clinton, but Holbrooke is supposed to be overseeing our whole show in Af-Pak, and he has an awful lot of experience at State.

The POGO report also mentions that turnover for the guards is around 100% per year, and for a job like guarding an embassy, understanding the rhythm of the streets around it is crucial. New-comers cannot do this job.

All in all, it's like miniature image of our whole foreign-policy apparatus from Baghdad to Islamabad...

A grotesque clown-posse playing life-and-death games in the dark.

Thanks for the link to the POGO letter. While it pales next to the section on the hazing stuff, I found this paragraph interesting and atypical for such a letter, too--more like a scene out of a Marx Bros. movie:

The language barrier between the non-English-speakers and English-speakers has forced both sides to use pantomime in order to convey orders or instructions and interpreters to convey facilitate radio communications. One guard described the situation as so dire that if he were to say to many of the Gurkhas, "There is a terrorist standing behind you," those Gurkhas would answer "Thank you sir, and good morning." Clearly this is an unacceptable situation, especially given that security emergencies require immediate response.

P.S. Gasket, I don't find it so shocking that they are not gay. Way before 9/11, Afghanistan was known to attract a constant stream of those goofball "manly man" andrenalin junkies, and those types, they prefer the company of men. It's sort of related to the homoerotic angles that one sometimes sees in pro-football or the like. It's different from being gay, it's more like being into male hormones, there's also a sort of exultation in male dominance, along the lines of ancient Greek culture. I have always seen a similar thing as going on with most gang rapes, it's not about the victim, it's about the "bonding." It is very common in "mercenary world"....i.e., "Soldier of Fortune" magazine is about getting away from all that is female.

It doesn't matter to me whether they are gay, straight, both, or neither. I find it telling that they brought up homosexuality in the first place. As if that aspect is the most important take-away from their behavior.

Who gives a shit whether they are gay or not! They are clearly not doing their goddamn jobs!

Well, apparently they care or they wouldn't mention it. So you do have to wonder about that.

Meantime, I want them all fired immediately and the contract cancelled. Null and void. Release them. With no unemployment compensation.

Sorry, aa. Not yelling at you. This shit just pisses me off.
