Torture-maven John Yoo Runs Away from Comedians
John Yoo runs away at the first sign of "trouble."
But if he had those comedians chained to the floor, he wouldn't be so shy.

I once asked a college professor to explain a so-called "trivial" conversion from one equation to the next. (Rumor had it that he had borrowed his text extensively from Schaum's Outlines, but I was just mainly puzzled how he got from A to B). After about 45 minutes of scribbling madly to show how easy it was, the bell rang, and he looked at me wistfully and said, "saved by the bell". His secret will be safe to the grave. Perhaps Professor Yoo's as well.

Dude! I hope that's not a put-down of Schaum's outlines!
Those beasties saved my sorry butt more than once, and when their version of Complex Variables went out of print, raggedy old versions of it were selling for hundreds of dollars on Ebay!
Here's Rootie in a room with 13 Asian math prodigies and a textbook by some magician from Bourbaki, and there's nothing between him and total humiliation except for Murray "Doctor Schaum" Spiegel!

Not at all - he allowed me to humiliate that prof because Murray hadn't shown A to B either.

I thought it was great. Was this one of the comics, or was it a student. Boy, that dickhead Yoo sure bailed in a hurry, didn't he?

It was one of the comics, for sure.
Nobody who signs up for a law course with a war criminal like John Yoo is likely to sacrifice his or her GPA for a protest, and with in-state tuition now over $9000, Berkeley isn't exactly teeming with radicals. It's mostly just upper-middle-class square-heads who want to get ahead, and Berkeley is just barely holding on to its status as a first-tier university anyway. After the next round of budget-cuts, you might as well call it the University of West Alabama.

Berkeley is letting Yoo teach 'constitutionality'?

I think it may be international law... but he skips the chapter about Geneva Conventions.

Have things changed? My understanding was that Yoo was doing time at Harvey Mudd or some such college down in Orange County and was on "sabbatical" from UCB.

Looked it up. It's Chapman University of Law.

And that's truly a bastion of 'conservative' thought. One of its biggest supporters was the late Karl Karcher of Carl's Jr hamburger joint fame. He was the guy in the dictionary, his pic was next to the word 'extreme'.

That was just propaganda to confuse the last of the "yippies."
