Want the morning after pill? HHS will stop you from getting it.
To the lawyers in the house, read pages 30-38.
It's literally unbelievable. The Bush appointees in their waning days
are in the midst of drafting a new rule that has to be read to be
believed. Essentially, it prohibits any entity that receives federal
funds from taking any action against a doctor, pharmacist, ambulance
driver, or anyone else for refusing to assist in an "abortion." There
is no exception for the life of the mother. Ambulance driver won't
take you to the hospital while you're bleeding out? The hospital can't
do anything about it if it receives federal funds. And his right to do
so starts when the sperm meets the egg.
The draft rule defines abortion as:
any of the various procedures—including the prescription, dispensing, and administration of any drug or the performance of any procedure or any other action—that results in the termination of the life of a human being in utero between conception and natural birth, whether before or after implantation. (emphasis supplied).
