Kudos to Ramona!
CONGRATULATIONS RAMONA!!!
TPM Cafe's own Ramona made the spotlight on last night's Bill Moyers Journal when he read from her TPM post Bill Moyers shines light on the health insurance mess - a Journalistic Best.
Unfortunately, that part of the show does not seem to be on the site videos for last night, but if you can catch a replaying this week of the program, it is at the beginning of Moyers' intro.
Ramona RAWKS!
Updated: Here's the clip and related info. Thanks to OGD and others for pointing to it. Here's the link to the full broadcast.

I beg everyone who reads this and clicks onto the link to send it on to everyone you know. Send it to your congressmen, your governors, your legislatures, the White House. Get an email chain going--put the link up on yard signs or billboards. Put it on bumper stickers. Stencil it on tee-shirts or tattoo it onto your forehead. Whatever it takes.I was tickled pink that she got such recognition. So I am sending a shout out for her.
This is a television event too important to let die. Please. Keep it alive. Keep it going. It's up to us now.

One blogger at the widely read website Talking Points Memo summed up what many had to say: "I beg everyone who reads this and clicks onto the link to send it on to everyone you know. Send it to your congressmen, your governors, your legislatures, the White House. Get an email chain going--put the link up on yard signs or billboards. Put it on bumper stickers. Stencil it on tee-shirts or tattoo it onto (sic) your forehead. Whatever it takes. This is a television event too important to let die... Keep it going."

Rowan,
Hope you are doing well and staying cool there in the extreme heat.
I watched BMJ last night and immediately after donated to PBS and sent link for transcript to most of my e mail list (no matter political persuasion). Also urge everyone to send it to other media outlets for reference.
Ramona does indeed Rawk and hopefully this will help all of us see that we can make a positive impact!
Thanks for this blog. Take care. Strongly Rec'd!

We can indeed have a positive impact. It seems particularly fitting that Ramona got this national attention. All is NOT lost.
Thank YOU for continuing that action by broadcasting it further.
I am having a roller coaster recovery, but the heat is finally abating here in the historically temperate Northwest.

I know I am sooooooooo excited about this. I cannot even write the proper words.
I am waiting for her to blog again so I can tell her how I feel.
Oh, hell I will go to her site and tell her so.
IS THIS NOT GREAT FOR OUR LITTLE CLUB? HA

Great indeed. But I am particularly happy that it was Ramona that got this particular spotlight.

Good on you, Ramona; just the shot in the arm you needed and deserved, eh wot?

I just saw it in iTunes - it's in the longest segment for 7/31/09 titled Wendell Potter. I haven't looked this weekend, but usually the web site has the same segments.

Watching Moyers and seeing the TPM header and Ramona's name and avatar was so cool! Her blog was fantastic and her sentiments highly recommended.
Maybe next time Bill Moyers will name and interview the writer! Ramona is more than "a blogger." She has eloquent-plenty to say about the world and the world would benefit greatly from connecting to the real person who takes the time and energy to share why she cares.

Beautifully said strato.

You got that right Strato. I was so proud when she put one of my blogs on her site. I was whirling. ha
She asked my permission first, of course. I went to her site ten times just to see it. hahahahahaha
This is so great. I am speechless. really. Content over hyperbole. Who'd a thunk? but its Moyers, my hero for three decades.
Sometimes Strato, it is like life can be fair after all!!!

I take it you mean fair and decent, DD! Not the circus, like most of television. I love Moyers too. Here’s the part of his broadcast referencing Ramona and TPM, and also the link to his website so others can watch it in full.

Pure poetry Strato. That is what it is. I am still struck dumb over all of this. Content and substance over silly talking points. Moyers quoted the best of the best!!!!!!!!

that's great. Good publicity for the issue. Great recognition of Ramona's efforts. Very inspiring and encouraging all around.
some good vibrations in this corner of the blogosphere. I'm glad I happened across this post.
I believe the universe has been singing for a long long long time. Just that some days you can hear the poetry better than others. This is one of those days.
Smile and let the sunlight in you touch everyone else's soul.
August 1, 2009 6:45 PM | Reply | Permalink
drat!! I meant to say warm, not touch. You know, smile and let the sunlight in you WARM everyone else's soul. Oh well. Intentions don't have a preview button.
August 1, 2009 6:51 PM | Reply | Permalink
well, touch is good too. Touch everyone else's soul, warm everyone else's soul. It's up to you, really. Who am I to dictate something like that? Touch, warm, light--you can light someone else's soul too. Souls must have pilot lights, so yes, feel free to fire someone else's up. Or like I said, warm, warm is good. Nothing wrong with warm. Or touch. Touch is no slouch either.
Touch, warm, light, fire up, all good choices when you're looking for the right verb to describe action upon someone else's soul. Spark is nice too. A little cliche, not that the others aren't, but it's a matter of degree really.
Again, it's all up to you, whatever you feel most comfortable with. It's just a phrase.
But don't go with "sweeten". That would ruin the entire sentiment and I believe, tear the very fabric of the space time continuum. You do NOT want to do that.
But again, it's up to you.

“When you do nothing, you feel overwhelmed and powerless. But when you get involved, you feel the sense of hope and accomplishment that comes from knowing you are working to make things better.”
I'm not sure who said that Ramona, but it seems like it describes your life in the last few weeks. :-)
Kudos! We are proud. Cheezeburgerz all around!

Heh. Nothing else needs to get done except to hold out your flipper. Rowan. You get the 2nd cheezeburger (with lots of seaweed 'stead of lettuce) - right after Ramona. :-)

Oh my gosh, guys, I've been gone all day and just saw this. Whoopee!!
My daughter called my cellphone to tell me about it while my husband and I were driving home and she was so excited I could hardly make out what she was saying. And then of course I couldn't wait to get here and read all about it.
Thanks so much, Rowan for this posting. And all of your for the great comments. This place means so much to me, as you know, so for Moyers to quote from my blog here is just awesome.
Yes, my healthy ego says I would have liked a mention of my name, but this is good. It's all good. Any TPM mention is great for us all.
And YIKES, too, I might add. . .

As I said on my blog, this gives me the oomph to keep on keeping on. Forget what I said about losing faith--it's b-a-a-ack!!
And tomorrow is another day.

WOO HOO, Ramona! I'm so excited for you I could pee! But, I have to admit I'm a little perturbed that we couldn't cheer you up but Bill Moyers could! LOL!!!
