I've mentioned before that the robo call company,FLS-DCI has a headquarters in St.Paul,in addition to Washington,DC. Yesterday the news was mostly about Palin's $150,000 wardrobe courtesy of GOP ,shopping sprees engendered by Jeff Larson.[ He's the L in FLS.] Well, here comes another doozie----Minnesota/Coleman connection. Forthwith:COLEMAN LITERALLY SLEEPS IN FLS-CONNECT´S WASHINGTON OFFICE IN A SWEETHEART RENT DEAL IN LARSON´S MILLION-DOLLAR TOWN HOUSE

FLS-Connect Employee Uses Apartment To Work And Take Calls. In June 2008, National Journal reported, "Coleman has a bedroom and a bathroom in Larson´s town house and shares the remaining living space, which includes his old couch, table, and chairs, with FLS Connect. A company employee uses a portion of the apartment to work and take calls on some days, according to Larson." [National Journal, 6/28/08]

Coleman Is Paying Just $600 Per Month To Live The Basement Of Jeff Larson´s "Simply Divine" Million-Dollar House. In June 2008, National Journal reported, "In July 2007, Coleman began paying Larson $600 a month in rent for a portion of a one-bedroom basement apartment in a Capitol Hill town house that Larson owns." In February 2007, 140 North Carolina Ave SE (Larson´s house) was placed on the market and listed on the website of Phyllis Jane Young Realty. Included in the listing is "a huge English basement with a media center, office space, gorgeous custom marble and oak bar plus an airy guest bedroom and bath…Simply Divine!" According to District of Columbia records, Larson paid $989,900 for the house. [National Journal, 6/28/08; Phyllis Jane Young Realty Listing; District of Columbia Public Records]

Coleman Missed Two Months´ Rent; Retroactive Rent Paid Only After Press Inquired. According to National Journal, "Earlier this month, after National Journal questioned Coleman and Larson about the living arrangement, the senator said he discovered that his rent for last November and January had not been paid. In mid-June, Coleman covered the back rent with a personal check for $1,200 made out to Larson and signed by the senator´s wife." [National Journal, 6/28/08]

I'd like to point out JohnMcCain's ties to gambling. He chaired the Bureau of Indian Affairs inquiry into Jack Abramoff and the HUGE casino scandals involving lobbying . McCain himself is known to be an admitted gambler,as pointed out recently in NYT article. Huff Po did an incredible article about the BIA inquiry,in Feb.,08,by Sam Stein, entitled "McCain Withheld Contoversial Abramoff E-Mail". This directly ties to the railroading of Gov. Don Seligman in election in Alabama, directly reloating to gambling. This is a must read.

McCain Money News Roundup for Oct. 21, 2008
On the heels of reports that Barack Obama had raised $150 million in September, we learned that John McCain had $47 million on hand for October campaigning. But McCain is still tapping money from other sources.

As The Wall Street Journal’s T.W. Farnam reports, McCain has been using money from his compliance fund – typically used to cover the costs of, well, complying with federal election law – to cover up to 5 percent of his advertising expenses. And it’s a specific 5 percent: The portion of every ad that declares, “I’m John McCain and I approve this message.” McCain is using his compliance fund to an unprecedented degree, spending more in one month than either President Bush or John Kerry spent in all of 2004.

The New York Times’ Michael Luo and Griff Palmer analyze the explosive growth of joint fund-raising committees in this cycle, a development that has placed “an emphasis on the high-end check that we have not seen since the days of soft money,” according to one expert quoted in the story. Watchdog groups worry about these joint committees because they “allow donors to enjoy the clout that comes with writing a single large check.”

Bloomberg’s Jonathan D. Salant also takes note of the fact that big money still plays a big role in presidential politics, noting that 47 bundlers have raised, combined, at least $23.5 million for the Democratic nominee. Meanwhile, McCain’s 538 bundlers have raised at least $77.8 million for him. These bundlers are often from industries the candidates routinely criticize on the trail, such as lobbying and financial services.

Finally, in more (hopefully) lighthearted news, Russia’s UN ambassador got a few laughs from his colleagues this week by showing off a fundraising letter he received from McCain’s campaign (campaigns aren’t allowed to accept money from foreign nationals).---------McCain'sLobbyists.com

Being fairly new here as a blogger, I don't know if this issue had been discussed earlier, but here goes. I find it odd that the ACORN issue of voter registration fraud is NOT being questioned in Florida. Florida has MANY Hispanics who were registered to vote by ACORN. McCain himself was keynote speaker at MIAMI ACORN conference two years ago. Secondly, the states that have had this brouhaha over ACORN ,like OHIO and NEVADA,are states that have high incidence of unionized workers. The GOP and the US Chamber of Commerce, along with Rick Berman, have been waging a war against this act, which has yet to become a law. The corporate interests are scared to death that if it were easier to organize, the corporate retail giants wouldn't have record profits for their shareholders. In Minnesota a few months back, there were TV ads ,funded by RILA,(retaiol industry lobby) likening this EFCA to Mafia tactics. Remember, Minnesota is home to Target, and is the state where Batsh*t Bachmann, Norm Coleman, and Al Franken are ALL in political races....also, the robo call compant that is doing the vile GOP calls FLS-DCI has a headquarters in St. Paul,Minnesota.

McCain Manager: "This Election is Not About Issues"
UPDATE, : In reaction to Rick Davis" comments about the election not being about issues, Barack Obama campaign manager David Plouffe released the following statement: "We appreciate Senator McCain"s campaign manager finally admitting that his campaign is not in fact about the issues the American people care about, which is exactly the kind of cynical old politics people are ready to change."

ORIGINAL POST

Rick Davis, campaign manager for John McCain"s presidential bid, insisted that the presidential race will be decided more over personalities than issues during an interview with Post editors this morning.

"This election is not about issues," said Davis. "This election is about a composite view of what people take away from these candidates."

Davis added that issues will no doubt play a major role in the decisions undecided voters will make but that they won"t ultimately be conclusive.~~~~~~~~~~~~Washington Post

One of its most prominent front groups is Voices for Choices. AT&T, which has donated millions to the Republican Party and the Bush Campaign in 2004 - and whose general counsel served on Bush's transition team, is one of FLS-DCI's largest and most important clients.

This firm ,DCI, was chosen for SECRET lobby of GOP Senators to vote AGAINST regulating Freddie Mac(see TPM fronnt page story.) Coincidentally, McCain hired the CEO of this lobby group,DCI,Doug Goodyear,to organize the GOP convention last month, according to the AP.
John McCain hired the CEO of lobby group DCI,Doug Goodyear,to organize his GOP convention last month. Remember,Rick Davis' firm received over $2 million also, over a period of yeas from Freddie Mac.BTW, The DCI lobby firm has a home office in Phoenix,Arizona in addition to D.C.

I have seen NOTHING written about the link between the company that does McCAin's Robo calls(FLS), and the HUGE newstory in today's AP about Freddie Mac paying a GOP lobbyfirm over $2 million to KILL FRedie Mac regulations. 19 GOP Senators were targeted and lobbied by a firm named DCI. The CEO was hired in September by McCain to organize the GOP Convention. Now here's the payoff FLS,[the robo call people] and DCI,[the firm hired BY Freddie Mac to SECRETLY lobby AGAINST Freddie Mac being regulated] are BOTH sister affiliates. The SAME company FLS and DCI are sister affiliated lobby groups.NOBODY IS TALKING ABOUT THIS !!WHY NOT? Rick Davis' firm took $$$2 million from Freddie Mac,now it comes to light that DCI and its CEO Doug Goodyear have ANOTHER direct tie to McCain's actual campaign.Incidentally, the home page for DCI boasts offices in DC and Phoenix.Go to FLS homepage, and you'll see the info stating that DCI is a sister-affiliate. WHY does TPM not have a thread on this AP newstory? Its on TOM page, but not blog.

It is worth mentioning some info regarding MCains 2000 campaign and the rhetoric coming from McCain's OWN SC strategist,Richard Quinn. Even as McCain himself was being slimed, his camp had issues of their own.[ Remember,McCain voted AGAINST MLK Holiday BEFORE he was for it.]

JOHN MCCAIN: WRONG ON KING HOLIDAY
When he was a Congressman in 1983, McCain voted against creating a federal Martin Luther King Holiday and his home state rescinded recognition of the holiday in 1987. While he has claimed his position has ‘evolved’ and that his original vote was ‘wrong’ his record of support for racist individuals, and his consistent votes against civil rights legislation belie that claim. And he has employed controversial individuals on his own campaign whose own nasty comments about Martin Luther King undermine McCain’s claims of inclusivity and evolution.

McCain Strategist Opposed King Holiday

McCain Defended Controversial Spokesman Richard Quinn, McCain's who called the MLK Holiday "Vitriolic and Profane." Richard Quinn, was a South Carolina "strategist" for McCain in the 2000 campaign. In a Partisan View column, Richard Quinn wrote, "King Day should have been rejected because its purpose is vitriolic and profane. By celebrating King as the incarnation of all they admire, they [black leaders] have chosen to glorify the histrionic rather than the heroic and by inference they spurned the brightest and the best among their own race. they have chosen a man whose role in history was to lead his people into a perpetual dependence on the welfare state, a terrible bondage of body and soul.” Quinn has also advocated electing David Duke, and sold T-Shirts through his magazine celebrating Abraham Lincoln’s assassination. [Partisan View, Southern Partisan, Fall, 1983; Partisan View, Southern Partisan, Winter, 1989, PFAW Release, 2/17/00] [Spartanburg Herald-Journal, 12/23/05; Vanity Fair, 11/04]

McCain Defended Quinn as ‘Respected’ and a ‘Fine Man.” Despite Mr. Quinn’s writings and history of racial insensitivity, McCain defended him as a ‘respected’ and ‘fine man’ and refused to fire him. [Associated Press, 2/18/00; New York Times, 2/8/00]

It is said that when Fascism comes to America, it will be wrapped in a flag and carrying a cross. To any here who are serious about learning how this culture of institutionalized intolerance has been allowed to take control of our government,PLEASE read "Expose: Christiam Mafia",by Wayne Madsen,a former CIA operative. You will NEVER look at DC or the right wing Christian fundamentalists in the same light again. Folks, this is real. And the likes of Sarah Palin, John Hagee, and Bachmann are just tools of a far more entrenched hierarchy in our government. Here's the closing pararaph of the article:

Sunday, January 22nd, 2006
Expose: The “Christian” Mafia, Parts 1 & 2
By Wayne Madsen

Journalist, columnist, and television commentator Bill Moyers recently wrote that “for the first time in our history, ideology and theology hold a monopoly of power in Washington.” Ever since Abraham Vereide, a misguided immigrant to this country who brought very un-American ideas of Nazism and Fascism with him in his steamer trunk, the so-called “Christian” Right has long waited to take the biggest prize of all – the White House. Moyers correctly sees the Dominionists or “End Timers” as being behind the invasion of Iraq. Moyers also rightly sees fundamentalist thought behind Bush’s “faith-based initiatives” and the rolling back of environmental regulations.

Hundreds of millions of people around the world no longer feel the United States is a country that can be trusted. They feel the people who run the affairs of state are out of control and dangerous. Considering the hold the Fellowship and their like-minded ilk have on the United States (and some of its allies) they are correct in their fears.

The political and religious dynasties who have embraced the Fellowship, Vereide, Fascism, Moon, Buchman, Moral Rearmament and all of their current and past manifestations, hatreds, and phobias show no sign of ceding power any time soon. There are many such father-son dynasties that hope to ensure a continuation of their shameful racketeering and political chicanery under the corporate “logo” of Jesus: George H. W. Bush to George W. Bush; Douglas Coe to David Coe; Billy Graham to Franklin Graham; Oral Roberts to Richard Roberts, Pat Robertson to Gordon Robertson; Jerry Falwell to Jonathan Falwell; Jeb Bush to George P. Bush; Robert Schuller Sr. to Robert Schuller, Jr., and Sun Myung Moon to at least nine sons (who are known about).

For them and their followers, they should keep in mind something Jesus said, “Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.”

Amen.
