Palin Still Ignorant of Role of V.P. - "V.P. in charge of U.S.Senate"
Video from her interview yesterday at:

Unbelievably ignorant. I guess she assumes as VP she can go into that old senate and get all mavericky on their ass.

I like Tena's phrase: "Dumb as a box of hair."

I'm not surprised Palin got the VP role wrong. She got the role of the Mayor of Wasilla all wrong too. At the RNC Convention Palin said the Mayor of Wasilla has real duties.
Watch as the current mayor is interviewed by Daily Show's Jason Jones. The mayor is not in charge of schools, she does not oversee the fire department, she is not in charge of any social services. The mayor holds a weekly staff meeting and signs checks!

Her handlers haven't educated her yet?
On a weird note, is she wearing red leather? Seriously, red leather?

Must be one of the outfits the RNC bought for her and the family. $150K free wardrobe, $30K in free travel for family, $17K to sleep at home - she really hit the jackpot.

If you listen carefully, she also makes it clear that there should be national standards for Education in terms of funding.
Does anyone else notice how often McCain and Palin resort to saying we'll pass a law to fix that problem while saying they think government should get out of people's way?
Are they even Republican? They don't seem to claim that label much.

LIstening further, this is the trouble when there are no follow ups, or the interviewer is a lunkhead. She lists her favorite Democrat to be part of a McCain/Palin administration as being Joe Lieberman.
Who isn't a Democrat.

This was a kid's question. Were you expecting her to quote Article I?
On the little-kid scale the answer was pretty much correct -- the VP works in the Senate (even though they're almost never there or do anything). Should a VP choose to, they likely could use the Bully Jr pulpit to have a solid influence on business in the Senate. Her other option would have been to say "not much of anything except hope the President dies in office" which would have been a real downer.
Given the amount of material Ms Palin gives you to work with, it's likely not the best strategy to pick apart statements directed at a 3rd grade audience.

I must respectfully disagree with your argument.
First of all, Palin was not talking to a third grade audience. She was talking to adults, albeit, in reply to a question posed by a third grader.
Second, you seem to be saying that it is okay to invent a constitutional authority where none exists as long as you are only educating children.
Third, this is the second time Palin has shown a remarkable misunderstanding of the constitutional role of the V.P.. The first time was in her debate.
Is it too much to ask that the person seeking to fill the role of V.P. be able to accurately articulate the scope and responsibilities of same?

I think Palin would have to know what Article I is in order to quote it. I've yet to see evidence that she understands anything in the Constitution beyond the 2nd Amendment.
The correct answer to a 3rd grader is "Our Constitution has a back up plan, so we are never unsafe. The Vice President is a back up plan nobody ever wants to use. The Vice President also votes in the Senate if there's a tie."

Hi Soap. Great answer. Simple. Accurate. Even a third grader could digest that one and at no time did you have inflate the duties of the VP.
