"I'm not watching the debate tonight.."
That's the response I received when earlier today I called three friends who have previously voiced strong support for McCain. (I live in Texas where there is no shortage of McCain supporters.)
I asked the natural follow-up, "Why not?"
While their answers varied, they still carried the general theme of "it's not that important".
I have no illusion that Texas will go blue, and this is hardly a scientific survey, but it is nonetheless hopeful to see formerly strong McCain supporters now not really caring enough to even watch their candidate debate.
Apathy is an important crack in the wall of McCain support, even if only anecdotally sourced.

Let's hope they'll decide not to bother voting on Nov 4 either. "It's not that important." for them.
