June 25th march in DC for health reform
Health Care for America Now! is staging a June 25th march in Washington.
I'm looking for a ride out of St. Louis.
Let's push for the public option now, before the legislation is finalized. The Iranian people have shown us how.

I got an Email notification of this event on June 17. I'd like to know why a major event of this type hasn't been planned with the mutual help of the various healthcare groups with enough advance notice that we could actually book a flight that isn't going to cost $800. Why is the march scheduled for a workday? There seems to be an obvious lack of planning here if the sponsoring groups want to have maximum turnout and proportionate impact.

Day of the week may be a result of issues to obtain permits, although I agree, more planning would probably have allowed a weekend.
The late date of your notification indicates poor planning indeed. Or the planning was done by students and retirees who have far more time to road trip it.
If you want to have your say, might I suggest following the advice I posted on my blog about sending a FAX?
At least that can be done without it costing $800.

The late date of my post has nothing to do with event planning, since I have nothing at all to do with it. In fact, this event has been planned for months. If you aren't plugged in, so sorry. I expect a ton of people on the mall.

Ripper, certainly my (and probably Miguel's) comments weren't directed at you but the organizers of the event.
And as good as a ton of people at the mall is, 2 tons is even better.
Cheers!

Thanks, CT. Understood. I first heard of this back in January, I think. Didn't think I could make it then, but have seen my way clear to go. I now have a ride there and will be staying with others at Gallaudet University dorms. There are actually several organizations making the trip and holding rallies throughout the week, with lobbying visits to Congressional offices, notable speakers, etc. Lots of unions know about this and are participating.
I think the June 25th event is a good choice because it will get press into the weekend and maybe on the Sunday a.m. shows.
Anyone who wants to come is welcome.
I would appreciate anyone connected with other sites passing the word.
I agree this hasn't made the web news as much as it should have, and you may be right that the planning was not up to regular snuff. Nonetheless, I'm convinced hundreds of thousands will show up, and I want to make it +1.

Wish I could make it +2, but it's not gonna happen. I'll reimburse you for an inflatable doll if you'll take it as my surrogate. ;)
