Now can we get rid of Reid?
"This amendment is as clear as day. It explicitly bars using the funds in this bill to 'transfer, release or incarcerate' any of the Guantanamo detainees in the United States. When the Administration closes Guantanamo, we will ensure it does so the right way."
What part of due process does he not understand?

Reid is a getting Republican delusion flu, a GITMO inmate's transfer to a super-max facility like Florence, CO would have a news cycle of maybe 4 hours, or at the most one day.
Where is Obama, will he fight these Democrat bozo's?

The Shoe Bomber (Richard Reid) is serving a life sentence in Colorado. Will Harry seek to kick him out of the country or something?

Colbert has a piece at Truthdig on 'releasing the terrorists into your neighborhood' a flagrant piece of scaremongering bullshit that both Reid and Republicans are mounting off about, it includes a before and after on Charleston, SC, which has had a 'terrorist' in jail for 5 years:

Harry Reid seems to be the ultimate collegial animal. If he's not sure he can win some vote against the GOP he will cancel that vote rather than force the Republicans to go on the record with their opposition. Can anyone cite one example of his showing any majority leadership moxie?

I don't believe the issue of releasing detainees into the US is about 'we don't want them in our backyard'.
I believe that is a smokescreen for 'we don't want them living under US laws'.
They are afraid of what it will happen. Those who tortured, and our country could be held accountable if these people end up in the country subject to our laws. That makes much more sense to me than the bogus 'terrorist' in our backyard BS.
The republicans have been fighting with every tool at their disposal the release of reports and memos, hearings, etc.
My guess is Reid traded something stupid like getting the credit card bill passed, which looked impossible last week, for taking this funding out of the bill.
The thing is that if the president can find whatever funding he needs then it doesn't seem to me that the senate should be able to make the decision of whether the detainees are moved to the US or not. And funding for having them at Gitmo must be coming from somewhere. Bet it's less expensive to move them.

Reid isn't an accident. He's the captain of the Washington Generals.
