Minnesota 3rd Congressional District up for grabs

A strong conservative district currently being held by retiring (R) Jim Ramstad, is at a virtual tie.  The latest Survey USA polls show the election can go either way.

(R) Paulson - 45%

(DFL) Madia - 44%

(Ind) Dillon - 9%

Undecided - 2%

The key to the election outcome will come from Dillons supporters.  The majority of defections from Dillon on election day likely will go to Madia.

So it's another horse race with a photo finish likely.

Cheers,

BACHMANN NOW BEHIND IN MINNESOTA

KSTP News just reported, Minnesota 6th District incumbent (R)Michele Bachmann is now trailing her challenger, (D)Elwyn  Tinklenberg, 47% - 44% with a margin  of error +/- 4%.

Just so you know!

In Minnesota: Bad News for Bachmann

After Michele Bachmann went rabid last Friday on Hardball, the news she has been receiving continues to be bad.  Besides the $800,000 her opponent, Elwyn Tinklenberg, has taken in since she went ballistic, Michele is now facing another new threat, a write-in Republican challenger.

Bachmann earlier won the GOP primary against a St Johns University college professor, Aubrey Immelman.  St Johns is a Catholic school and Immelman has taught there since 1991.

On Saturday Immelman announced he was mounting a write-in campaign as a Republican, to unseat Bachmann.

Immelman, an immigrant from South Africa, who describes himself as a moderate Republican, on Monday said, "I gave up everything to come here, which is why I feel so strongly about the direction my country is taking.  I'm a proud, patriotic American.  And I cannot tolerate this festering brand of neo-McCarthyism Michele Bachmann is pushing."

Immelman will definitely pull some moderate Republican votes and expect him to do well from Catholics as well.  But will there be enough write-ins to unseat the Queen of Hate?

We'll know in two weeks but it clearly is now possible.

Saturday Night Live - The Couric - Palin Interview

This  Saturday Night Live Clip recreates the Couric/Palin interview.  From having false Osama sightings to talking about her family going to that 'goofy evolution museum'.

It is a true classic.

Who would believe that Tina Fey does a better job of portraying Sarah Palin than Palin does herself?

Please enjoy and recommend for others to see.

Why Won't The MSM Address This McCain Lie?

Much has been said recently about McCain's admitted lack of tech savvy, not sending emails, etcetera, but in each instance McCain's staff plays the POW injury card.  This is not new.  Even back in 2000 when McCain first ran for president, his team was using POW card. In March of that year the Boston Globe reported, ' but he can't raise his arm above his shoulder to throw a baseball.'

In April of this year, the LA Times blog wrote, 'He was released in 1973, arrived home on crutches to begin a long painful rehabilitation and eventually returned to duty as a squadron commander before retiring in 1981.'  They went on to say, 'And he cannot raise either arm above his shoulder.'  This is reportedly the reason for his 100% tax free disability.

Fast forward to the 2008 Republican National Convention, in St. Paul, Minnesota.  In his speech to teary eyed faithfuls,  Fred Thompson said, 'John McCain cannot raise his arms above his shoulders. He can’t salute the flag of the country for which he sacrificed so much … We salute him.'

A few days later and 4200 miles away in Stockholm, Sweden, a former reporter named Erik Eriksson, discovered archived video footage, of the release of John McCain in 1973.  The video shows John McCain with a noticeable limp, but it also appears to be no problem for him to raise his arms.  You can view that video here.

After viewing the video, ask yourself this.  If John McCain cannot salute the U S flag, because of his POW injuries, how was it he could salute so freely when he was released in March 1973, as screen shot images show here?  And what about his meeting with Nixon six months later?  Were the crutches McCain used nothing but a photo prop?   Finally take a look at this photo taken at the GOP Convention by the Washington Post.

Do you still believe McCain can't raise his arms over his shoulders?

You Can't Make This Stuff Up

Even if his own anemic economic abilities suck, John McCain today boldly stated he would 'fire' Christopher Cox, the head of the SEC.   McCain pretty much blamed Cox for following the regulations the McCain help foster in to the SEC, under the guise of reform.

Yes, the same Christopher Cox who was a former Republican congressman, who was appointed three years ago by Republican president George W Bush and who was confirmed by a Republican controlled senate, by unanimous consent.  Unanimous consent, of course, would include Republican John McCain.

Republican Lawmaker Calls Flight Attendant 'pain in the ass'

If the was not enough Republican muck flowing out of Alaska, here is more.

Republican State Senator Lesil McGuire cause a stir earlier this month on a flight from Juneau to Anchorage.  According to reports, before the flight left, McGuire continued to use her Blackberry (that telecommunications invention by John McCain) even though she was told to turn it off.  Eventually the pilot had to stop the planes taxi because of the fracas that McGuire created.

After the plane landed the police were summoned.  Although no charges were filed, a police report was completed. The report does say, that after she was refused alcohol, McGuire tossed a glass of water in the isle.  Some of the witnesses say she was rude, contemptuous, and bad mouthed the pilot and crew.

You can read all about it here.

THE BAILOUT IS ON - Government announces $85 billion loan to save AIG

Government announces $85 billion loan to save AIG
WASHINGTON - In a bid to save financial markets and economy from further turmoil, the U.S. government agreed Tuesday to provide an $85 billion emergency loan to rescue the huge insurer AIG. The Federal Reserve said in a statement it determined that a disorderly failure of AIG could hurt the already delicate financial markets and the economy.

This is what McCain meant when he said the fundamentals of the economy are strong.

Palin Assumed Feds Would Fund the 'Bridge to Nowhere'

That quote is from Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin and was printed in the Anchorage Daily News on June 9, 2008

Many people incorrectly believe the "Bridge to Nowhere" refers only to one bridge, the access to Gravina Island.  The reality is there were two spans that Don Young earmarked for federal pork.  The other was the Knik Arm. Because the Knik Arm would not attach directly to an island of 50 people like the Gravina span would, it received and continues to receive my less attention.  But let's be clear.  The Bridge to Nowhere is really about two bridges.

Palin continues to spread the lie claiming, I told Congress, 'Thanks, but no thanks,' on that Bridge to Nowhere. Did she really?  Impossible.

The actual earmark, that designated federal funds for the two bridges above, was removed by a law and signed by Bush on Nov. 30, 2005. That, as it turns out, to be days after Sarah Palin first announced her candidacy for Governor of Alaska. So could she say no to congress as she claimed? No way.  She was only a canidate when congress stripped the earmark part.

But congress did not remove the funding.  So Alaska was free to use the federal pork anyhow.  Congress did make one effort to block the funding on the 'Bridge[s] to Nowhere' in 2006 but ultimately allowed the usage, due to the $41 million already spent on the projects.

In June 2008, yes, this year, Sarah Palin and other Alaskan politicans were asked about the Knik Arm project.  You can see all their responses here; but one question in particular was asked to Palin.  Do you in general support the idea of building a Knik Arm bridge?

Her answer:

You know in general I always have, growing up out there in the Valley. I've always had that, shared that vision with others, that we would have that physical linkage with the municipality of Anchorage and I am such a proponent of muscled up infrastructure in Alaska in general and you know, beefing up our infrastructure.

She goes on to explain how good and needed this project is for Alaska and then admits how she expected it would be paid. You know, Palin said, it was assumed that the feds would be paying for the project.

Next Palin goes on to pose a query herself.  Well things have changed there on the federal front, haven't they?If I may answer on behalf of the Anchorage Daily News and the rest of America, yes Sarah.  Things have really changed on the federal front but apparently that doesn't hold true for Alaska and you.  At least of June 2008, that is.

Yes, Sarah, you assumed the feds would be paying the tab, and now have audacity to claim you are a maverick?  Try pork queen instead.

ONE SMALL DISAGREEMENT WITH TPM

Today Josh posted the open mic video from Peggy Noonan and Mike Murphy. As usual the posting will likely pull in over 1000 recs and following the video was a complete transcript.  However, there is one item in the transcript in which I disagree.

A little over half way down you will see:

CT: Yeah, she's never looked comfortable about this.

MM:
They're all bummed out.

That is not what I heard.  What I hear was:

CT: I mean, she never looked comfortable about this.

MM: They're, they're all fucked up.

Is that what you heard too?

Palin Files Complaint Against Herself

From McClachy News:

Gov. Sarah Palin wants a state board to review the circumstances surrounding the dismissal of Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan -- taking the unusual step of making an ethics complaint against herself.

The article goes on to say her lawyer, Thomas Van Flein, asked the state legislature to drop its own investigation because the Alaska Personnel Board has jurisdiction over ethics.

I am sure we will hear much more of this today.

Sarah Palin Was Fully Vetted

I know what you are thinking.  Many of you believe McCain just picked Palin on a whim, without vetting her properly. Not true.

This little nugget appeared in yesterday's Washington Post.

"Nor," Rick Davis said, "was Palin selected without having gone through the full vetting process that was done for other finalists."  Rick Davis, of course, is John McCain's campaign manager.

As you can see, John McCain has learned everything he needs to know about Sarah Palin.  Little things like Sarah's former membership to a secessionist group, or that the governor's 17 year old daughter, Bristol, is pregnant, does not present a problem for John McCain.  Obviously when Palin was vetted last week, McCain learned that Sarah was for the bridge to nowhere before she was against it; but that didn't concern John.  No.  Not a bit because McCain found in Palin something that others clearly do not see.  John McCain found a "partner and a soulmate."

Who knew?

Yet I have one thing to say.  If Palin is McCain's best, can you imagine how many skeletons are in Pawlenty's, Romney's, and Jindal's closets?

Sorry ... Got To Go With McCain on This One

This celebrity issue is clearly something that will resonate with voters such as myself.  Now hear me out before you criticize.

Yes, I know to be running for president one must possess a large ego, but for Barack,  is that all he has?  On the other hand, for our modest Humble john, clearly his prostate is larger.  Because of this, McCain, can also claim the experience of already answering those 3 AM calls.  God knows, he might already be up at that time anyway. If he is up, he obviously is thinking about Paris or Britney and thinking about giving his buddy, Bob Dole, a call on how to get a hold of some of that Viagra.

Also McCain is firm in his convictions.  When he says, 'that depends', we all know what that means.   Besides, McCain is just more huggable.

Your thoughts?

In Minnesota: Coleman Goes Negative - er ah Make That Franken Went Negative First!

Yes. Here in Minnesota it's allowable to go negative once your competitor has started that nasty trend.  Coleman's latest ad attacks Franken personally and skillfully avoids all the issues facing  the voters.

Coleman's camp claims Franken went negative first.  How, you may ask?  By linking Republican Senator Coleman to Republican Pretzeldent G W Bush.

More childish behavior by Coleman as you can see here.
