One Last Chance for Constructive Slam on FISA Voters

As we have reported several times this week there is a primary in GA-12 with Progressive State Senator Regina Thomas running against Bush Dog John Barrow. Thanks to many readers here we have been able to get some last minute cash for radio, newspaper, television and Get out the Vote operations.

Barrow predictablly voted for the FISA Bill as he has with Republicans consistently on the war and the Bush Tax cuts.
Here's an article about Barrow's challenge from the Atlanta Journal Constitution in today's Paper.

One voter interviewed in the article said about Barrow

"The more you start talking conservative, the more you have to talk about [President] Bush," Fletcher said during a short interview outside the church he attends, Asbury United Methodist.

"I know based on my experience and based on my socioeconomic situation, I don't identify with someone who talks about how conservative he is or how much he agrees with Bush," said Fletcher, who is a conductor for CSX Railroad"

We need to be able to get this information out to the voters in this district in the last few days of the election. If more Democratic voters knew how conservative John Barrow was, they would not vote for him on Tuesday.

The article also said "The National Journal in March ranked Barrow the third-most-conservative Democrat in the U.S. House. " This is not the third-most conservative District amongst Democrats by any means.

Remember how mad you are at those Democrats that voted for FISA and Donate to Regina Thomas  We are only $30 away from reaching our targeted goal of $1,000 raised from The Progressive Electorate.

You Can Still Have Say on FISA Right Now: Even After Vote

We have a Georgia Primary next Tuesday matching progressive State Sen Regina Thomas running against Incumbent Bush Dog and FISA supporter John Barrow.

Barrow is so wrong on so many issues and it's not just FISA. Although we need to keep that in mind when opening our wallets tonight. It's the war and voting with the Republicans all the time on taxes.

Today John Barrow received the endorsement of the Savannah Newspaper. Savannah is the largest city in the district.

Unfortunately they don't get it either when they said

"But effectively serving in Congress and representing the 12th District requires more skills than constituent services. This district needs someone who can craft policy, argue its merits and then work with members on both sides of the aisle to make it a reality."

We don't need a Democrat in name only where we have a choice. Her staff can help her craft policy. Also, that must be a joke because Barrow has sponsored very little legislation.

Donate a few dollars to Regina Thomas and see if we can't make a difference tonight. Click here to donate.

Jesse Helms Spirit Lives in the Vitter, Sessions, DeMint Blocking of AIDS BILL

Despite a majority of the House, a majority of the Senate, both Presidential Candidates and George W. supporting the AIDS Bill, three bozo Senators are still blocking this legislation.

The Bill has a unanimous consent provision and therefore Viitter, Sessions and DeMint are blocking this bill from cominig up for a vote.

Perhaps these three are honoring Jesse Helms who even came around some on funding for AIDS. To be fair, Sessions did support more funding for rural areas. But this is clearly not right. Click here to read a very thorough editorial on what this bill would accomplish

This would authorize over $50 billion in funding for AIDS over the next five years to stop AIDS, TB and Malaria. These are the three most deadly viruses in the world. Most importantly this bill would encourage other countries to help in the fight against AIDS.

Unforunately, Jeff Sessions is the only one of those three running for re-election. We have a much more progressive candidate running against him in Vivian Davis Figures. While it is an uphill battle, any amount you can donate to Figures would help raise the awareness how attrocious Jeff Sessions really can be. Our theory is that Sessions is opposed to funding in this country for illegal immigrants with AIDS/HIV being the staunch proponent of immigration reform.

Anyways , click here to Donate to Vivian Figures and help let Jeff Sessions, David Vitter and Jim DeMint know their actions will not be tolerated.

Last Day to Take Constructive Action on FISA

I wrote a similar post yesterday and received some great feedback and more importantly donations.

We are facing an important primary election next Tuesday in Georgia. State Sen. Regina Thomas is running against Bush Dog John Barrow for the 12 Congressional District Seat.  Barrow voted with Bush on the War in Iraq at every chance available as well as yes on FISA.

This race gained national attention when Obama stepped in to endorse Barrow.Something usually not done in a contested primary. This coincided on the same day as the House vote on FISA. If you are mad at Obama for his stance and comments chip in and help Thomas. I urge you not to take it out on our chance at a Democratic Website. This is an opportunity to do something constructive and productive that will not hurt the party.

Thomas has about 30k more that she can spend that just came in on Act Blue. Let's see if we can't give her another 5k that would go a long way.

Today may be the last day to donate and money received for more media buys for the weekend.

Click here to Donate. If 20 people give 10 we can buy one more radio ad or a newspaper ad.

Last Chance to help - GA-12- Regina Thomas - Deadline tomorrow

Tomorrow may be the last day that you can help Regina Thomas on Act Blue. For those of you that don't know about this race click here for a diary and to view her campaign video. What you need to know is that she is running against John "Bush Dog" Barrow in a Georgia Primary. He's a Dem in a D+3 that votes like he's in a R+19. He voted lock step with Bush every step of the way on the war and he voted for FISA. Obama messed around and endorsed him in the primary.

With the primary a week from Tuesday, I'm not sure she will get the money in time. Act Blue usually cuts the checks on Monday.

Bush Dog Barrow has gotta go. Read my diary from yesterday.  You may criticize how we can support Thomas but be for Obama. It's all about representing your district. Barrow has not represented his district. Obama has been right on the war.

Bush Turns 62 in the White House, Let's not let McCain Turn 73 in the White House

Just read a great Happy Birthday George Bush diary written by my friends over at Left In Alabama. We can tolerate W.'s birthday today because it is his absolute last under any circumstance in the White House.

Apparently the Bush's are asking for $62 donations to the RNC. So the folks over at LIA gave me a great idea. We should start a $62 donation to Obama or a $6.20 because we are all broke democrats and not rich republicans.

I'm all for that and think it is a phenomenal idea and therefore created an Act Blue page for this monumental day. We should not let John McCain under any circumstance turn 73 in the White House. I keep reading more and more articles about how senile McCain seems. I'm not discriminating based on age, but it's just McCain who seems to be losing it a little.

Anyways, let's put our money where our mouth is on this one and send $6.20 or some variation to Barack today.

Click here to Donate on my In Honor of W's 62 Birthday page.
