The Republican Party has ceased to exist and has been replaced by a new pseudo-political organization that relies on spreading fear, relying on ignorance, and most of all creating hate.
So I call them FIH. Maybe they will come up with some eye-catching logo that they can wear as the break up town hall meetings and threating the lives of anyone who doesn't agree with their madness.
After all, it did kind of work once before. Just look up the NAZI party.

The former Vice President has successfully shifted the argument to 'torture worked, so it's ok'.
I remember when the Bush administration denied they were torturing anyone, and claimed that waterboarding wasn't torture. They felt they had to, because they knew it was wrong.
Now that the lie has been exposed, and the crimes committed detailed, Cheney ... still clinging to some past authority he never should have had ... is trying to shift the focus. And it's seems the media is going along with him.
So I'm going to hopefully clarify this.
America has due process of law. We do not hold people without charges, and we do not use cruel and unusual punishment. These are key principles of the constitution, and are about basic human rights.
So, if we are to defend our country and these principles, America does not torture. It does not matter what the result was. It is wrong.
We fight our enemy, but we do not become our enemy.

In reality, a one party system is not a good thing for a democracy. But the situation now is such that there won't be a Republican party very much longer. Maintaining the stand of lower taxes and less spending, to placate the rich and hopefully fool everyone else, isn't going to work anymore. Their phony patriotism isn't going to fool anyone any longer. Their reliance on divisiveness and fear is worn out. People have caught on to their act, finally. That's why they were largely thrown out of office in the last election. All of McCain's and his party's lies were seen for what they were by the majority of the country.
And now the ones that are left, clinging to these tired ideas, are kowtowing to a radio show blow hard. A hate monger who would rather people suffer than he and the Republican party and their conservative principles be wrong. They are all stuck in a tar pit of their own invention, and they will eventually just die off...become extinct.

Since they added their 'Expanded Likely Voters Poll' a few weeks ago, it has show Obama's lead over McCain to be around twice as much as the 'Traditional Likely Voters Poll'.
But today, they surprisingly agree that the lead is now 10 points! Just seems kind of odd.
Not that anyone should relax and think it's a done deal. EVERYONE MUST VOTE.
That's all we have to do, and we'll be fine.

With the polls "cratering" for John McCain, what stunt will he pull next?
He certainly has nothing left in his platform to use. And he is
running out of attacks on Obama.
So here are the "Top Ten Options For John McCain's Next Stunt":
#10. Sell 6 of his houses to cover the economic bailout.
#9. Announce that he's making first contact with aliens and claim
Obama just doesn't understand!
#8. Suspending campaign to personally hunt down Bin-Laden in Pakistan.
Sarah is bringing her Moose gun!
#7. Claim that his Scotch-Irish ancestry allows him to drink Obama
under the table.
#6. Suspending campaign to join cast of Dancing With The Stars!
(thought of this before I saw Letterman use it)
#5. Reveal he's really Dr. Evil and will turn off the laser for $700 billion!
#4. Claim he's a closet liberal and is more left than Obama.
#3. Announce "Hic...I kan drank Pootin underf da tabel"!
#2. Replacing Palin with Pamela Anderson!
And the number one stunt left for John McCain:
#1. First President Not Wearing Pants!

The man has gone over the edge...dropped a few cards from his deck...run out of chips for the dip...etc.
I saw him tonight saying, with a self satisfied grin, that progress was made today in the bailout package negotiations and whatever credit he deserved would be up to others decide.
The scary part is that I realized he actually believed what he was saying.
This despite the fact that everyone knows that an immenent deal was reported, and that things fell apart after McCain showed up with his new plan. What kind of a mind does it take to think no one will notice what really happened?
Maybe he hasn't been lying for the last 4 months. Maybe he is completely delusional and actually believes his own BS.
How do you tell a man running for president that he is mentally unfit to be in the position he is? I think there are several people in Washington who are either trying to figure that out, or afraid to tell him.

Mitt Romney at the Republican Convention:
"The right course is the one championed by Ronald Reagan 30 years ago and by John McCain today. It is to rein in government spending and to lower taxes, for taking a weed whacker to excessive regulation and mandates, for putting a stop to tort windfalls and to stand up to the tyrannosaurus appetite of government unions!"
Yes, that was Mitt Romeny and his very accurate portrayal of John McCain' economic theories.
How McCain can now stand before the American public and claim to be the champion of regulation and blame the current state of the economy on Barak Obama or anyone other than Reaganites is...just...amazing.
The man is lying...dare I say it...more than George Bush. I could asking questions about how does he sleep at night, does he have any conscience, is he pure evil?
The better question to ask is how could anyone vote for this guy?

Anyone with half a brain knows that 80% of what the McCain campaing is saying is a pack of lies. Yet they are eating it up.
Please, Republican Party, tell us the same old lies so we will get something we feel comfortable with.
The other guy scarry. He's smart, he's honest, he wants make real changes, he's black, and he has a funny name. Too much for us to handle.
We don't care if the rich get richer and the economy sucks for us. That's the non-change we can handle.

I don't know how else to explain it. Anyone with half a brain knows that 80% of what the McCain Campaing is saying is a pack of lies.
Yet they are eating it up. Like they were waiting for any excuse to not vote for the intelligent, straight talking young senator who wants to bring change.
Change is scarry. Please, tell us some conservative lies so we will feel more comfortable. We don't care if the rich keep getting richer while the economy goes to hell, and the environment goes to hell.
At least that would be non-Change that we can understand.

I saw a video of Lynyrd Skynyrd doing one of their classic rock anthems yesterday. It reminded me of my teenage years, and was kind of nice to see them still going even without the original lineup. The song was "Simple Kind Of Man". If your not familiar with it, here are some of the lyrics.
Mama told me, when I was young
Come sit beside me, my only son
And listen closely, to what I say.
And if you do this
It will help you some sunny day.
Ohh take your time... Don't live too fast,
Troubles will come, and they will pass.
Go find a woman and you'll find love,
And don't forget son,
There is someone up above.
(Chorus)
And be a simple kind of man.
And maybe some day you'll love and understand.
Baby be a simple kind of man.
Won't you do this for me son,
If you can?
To me it's just a simple fable about trying to avoid the pitfalls of life. Maybe a little too simple, but the music kicks ass. That's the main reason I remembered this tune.
In addition to nostalgia, though, it also brought some concerns I've had into focus. It's fine if people want to keep their lives simple and understandable, but I fear that's how they vote for president too. It explains two terms of George now doesn't it.
I'm hoping that the current polls just aren't reflecting what most Americana's really want, and that so many people just aren't that stupid. But I am worried. This is the most pivotal election of my lifetime, and if we get it wrong I think we are fairly well screwed.
It's time for this country to grow up a bit. Don't settle for the simple man for president, with the even simpler woman one step away.

Last night, John McCain stood before a picture of Walter Reed Middle School in North Hollywood, California.
Simple mistake. Right?
Or just a small example of how the Republicans are just painting pretty pictures and not checking any facts?

No surprise here. She fits the Republican mold. She can flip-flop and lie with a straight face with the best of them.

I think it's the guy who picked a former small town Mayor who is just two years into her first term as Governor of Alaska to be his Vice President.
To potentially put this person in the oval office as chief executive, if the 72-year-old candidate with a history of health problems doesn't make it to the end of his term, is the height of political expediency.
A choice made merely to attract women and conservative voters, and not with America's best interest in mind.
Well done John McCain. You also destroyed your lack of experience argument. Although, hypocrisy hasn't stopped you yet.

People need to wake up and realize what this election is all about.
The Major issues...the war and the middle east, the economy, health care, and probably most importantly the environment...all boil down to one thing. Oil.
You may think the important thing is religion, or racism and sexism, or some ancient notion about America always being right.
But right now, the one thing that is affecting all of us -- the 99% in this country with only 60% of it's wealth -- is our dependence on oil.
Not just as a county, but individually. We can't perform our daily functions without it. We have to buy it no matter what the price. We are like sheep "baaing" our way to the gas station.
I know the price been going down lately, but you and I know that will change after the election. That is how much in control they are. These are people who care nothing about people dying to protect their commodity, let alone the disastrous effects it is having on the world we live in.
So I'm challenging everyone to put aside their banners and flags, put aside their biases and prejudices, and think about this. I mean actually think.
Which candidate is going to work to end this, and which is going to perpetuate it?
