Unicare HMO sent me an email

I got this in an email from Unicare HMO at my job today.   I don't they should be sending this to employees of their customers.   It upset me because of the misinformation that's in it, but because it includes email links for communication with them as well as Congress, I decided it would be good to post it so that people could contact these people and let them know they DO want health care reform WITH the public option that is currently in the Bill.

Getting Health Care Reform Right

As you know, our company has been pursuing responsible and sustainable health care reform as the Senate and House of Representatives have been working this summer -- and will continue to do so going forward.

We have also launched our grassroots Web site, the Wellpoint Health Action Network, to assist you with contacting your elected officials as well as notifying friends, neighbors and family members about this important issue.

Regrettably, the Congressional legislation, as currently passed by four of the five key committees in Congress, does not meet our definition of responsible and sustainable reform. At this stage, the legislative proposals would likely have a significant negative impact on our partners and customers by:

  • Causing tens of millions of Americans to lose their private coverage and end up in a government-run plan;
  • Limiting customers' choices of the products they can purchase and how they can purchase health coverage; and
  • Increasing the premiums of those with private coverage by imposing new mandates and coverage requirements.

Please make your voice heard on this important issue by writing Congress and encouraging your elected officials to get health reform done -- and done right -- by acting in a bipartisan fashion to make health care more affordable, improve quality, and cover all Americans in a sustainable way.

Please visit the Health Action Network and write an e-mail, make a phone call, or alert others about the opportunity to use our Web site to write a letter encouraging members of Congress to reconsider their present course and instead to pass responsible and sustainable health care reform.

Together, we can get health care reform done right.

The Ripple Effect

A young man in the 60s enraged at what he considers an unjust war, joins a radical group and bombs buildings.
An 8 year old boy of mixed race being raised by a single mother unaware that....
Fast forward 2008...
Having sat on a board with aforementioned young man in the 60s - now educator - could possibly cause him to lose the race to become the President of the United States.
While I don't think this will happen (that he will lose); it is mind-boggling to me that its a possibility.

Obama Draws Crowd of 75,000 in Portland

Why? Someone Help Me Understand

Why is Hillary still in this race?  Somebody please help me understand.

After super Tuesday and the 11 wins by Obama I figured she stayed in because she might win big in Ohio and Texas and catch up with him or at least get close in delegates (which is how you win, not popular votes).  But in the end Obama won Texas and she didn't gain that much over him in Ohio.

Then I thought, she's still in it because she's trying to convince the Super delegates to overturn the voters and give her the nomination, by seating MI & FL even though that would be breaking the rules.  She had already offended many AA's, but I guessed she would convince the Super's not to worry about that because we would all come back to her in the general, because... well... who else would we vote for, we're Democrats (I wouldn't).  But with her recent comments about "White working class voters" that ship has sailed, no matter what the polls say (I never get polled.  Where are these pollsters?!), in the neighborhood, at work, on black radio stations all I hear is "I won't vote for Clinton, if she steals the nomination" no matter what you think is fair or right the perception would be stealing.

I could be wrong but I'm willing to bet that if the Supers give her the nomination over Obama when he's got more delegates, the Obama-inspired young people, the Obama supporting independents and republicans will not vote for Clinton.  The Obama-inspired young people who are first-time getting involved in politics will probably determine that its all BS and never vote again.

So why is she still in this race?  Is she hoping lightening will strike him and she can then step in?  Does she know some ominous revelation and is just holding on until it can be revealed?  Is she really trying to win in 2012?  Are the Supers telling her behind closed doors they will give her the nomination if she stays in until the convention?

WHY IS SHE STILL IN THIS RACE?!  PLEASE HELP ME UNDERSTAND!
