Have you forgotten who Obama is already? He's the guy who listens to everybody, gets every point of view. He listens to everybody, and then he makes the decision, and most of the time, it's the right decision. Even if I don't agree with the decision, I understand that it was a thoughtful decision.

Obama is a strong thinker and a strong leader. He gets stronger from having a variety of views and styles around him, but always, he sets the agenda, and he sets the tone.

That's the key. He sets the agenda, and he sets the tone.

I may never be able to list all of the ways in which this election makes me happy, but this is near the top of the list. Obama has shown that a campaign with core principles and a strong positive message can defeat a campaign of sleaze. It's very powerful.

I have no illusions that it will all be kittens and sunshine from here on out, but still, it's a huge change in the right direction. It lifts us all.

The whole experience of this year would have been very different and somewhat diminished if I'd not had TPM to rely on daily.

Wouldn't it be wonderful thing if this year put the nail in the coffin on both those ideas?

Being able to send a jolt of electricty through the TV, that would be a nice and humane solution.

Yes, all talking heads should be wired up, and the viewers should be able to zap them when they spout out nonsense like this.

He comes off as the most sane, sensible candidate on the planet. He's not scary socialist. He's not radical leftist. He looks safe. He belies everything McCain has tried to say about him.

If this DVD showed up, it would get that same space of honor, stuck somewhere between a Crate and Barrel catalog and an oil change coupon.

The McCain/Palin camps are NOT serious. They have not given us any serious ideas. They give us old platitudes and half-baked gimmicks, and any digging into the ideas eventually erupts into yet another smear on Obama.

God, I so want to have a grown up in the White House. One more week! Get out the vote for Obama!

And when it comes to GOTV, we've got one candidate who is incredibly organized and has been working on GOTV in the background for a year, and one candidate who's been spending all his time running a campaign from 30 years ago, but whose party has a nasty history of voter suppression and fraud.

It'll be a nail-biter.

Granted, he could just be fed up with the relentlessly anti-science and anti-intellectualism theme of the Palin worldview. Lord knows, I am. But if felt like something more personal.

that up is down, that the sky is green and the grass is blue, that 2 + 2 = 5 and that Sarah Palin is ready to be president.

In the grand scheme of things, this actually may be one of the easier lies to believe.

Unless Lance Armstrong runs (rides?) for president. Thighs that have won the Tour de France are worth contemplating, regardless of political positions.

Obama supporters are so excited about Obama that we'd vote even if the election was a lock. We all want to be able to tell future generations that, yes, we were there, and we voted for him.

Republicans are just sad and frustrated about the whole state of things right now, and some of that is bound to translate into a "why bother" attitude on election day.

(I was actually going to vote yesterday, but it took me nearly two hours to work through the zillion amendments and referendums we've got on our ballot this year. By the time I'd made all my final decisions, I'd run out of time.)

I think it may take a major trip to the liquor store to get me through the next 11 days.
