But many DLC members, meeting in Chicago on Sunday, argued victory will require following their centrist organization's philosophy.

But what about the centrist philosophy in the Democratic tent related to the Health Care of the Nation???
The following is from the Progressive Policy Institute, the think tank arm of the Democratic Leadership Council.
Where We Stand On Health Care:
New Democrats want to create a market-based, Information Age health care system. Our priorities include: universal coverage for the uninsured, Medicare reform based on competition and expanded benefits -- especially for prescription drugs -- and initiatives to improve quality and empower consumers.
They have have no intention whatsoever to support a public plan to compete with their friends in the corporate world let alone anything whatsoever that deals with a single-payer style plan.
Keep a tight eye on the these corporate lackeys . . .
