The "TPM Two-Holer" at the Café

~

This Two-Holer page is designed specifically for any and all of those cafe denizens here in our presence who wish to dump whatever they damn well please from locations in other ongoing discussion threads, that's deemed a bunch of bunk, disruptive and/or totally off-topic.

If it moves you, feel free to bookmark this page and then direct other's to this page who are interrupting and causing disruptions and eruptions in your on-going discussion.

A little note with the link may go something like this:

Hey! Stop interrupting and go dump that load over here.

Also, if it better suits you,  please feel free to cut & paste anyone else's trash to this thread you deem to be a steamin' pile that doesn't belong in your ongoing discussion thread. Please attach a link from where the trash came from.

NOTE: You must provide your own reading material. And take it with you when you leave. In addition: You'll find the corncob on the covered box between the holes.

WARNING: For your safety and the safety of the surrounding community, DO NOT drop cigarettes, cigars or other forms of smoldering by-products in the pile.

Look who just stumbled back into the Café to dump his load just short of a one year absence:

Dude, you're fighting a losing battle with these guys. Just changed the title to "Bush lied people died" and they'll love it. It actually sounds like an interesting read.

Oh Boy! Oh Boy! Oh Boy!

A new addition to The Two-Holer from a comment in a Special Feature Ripple Effect By Charles Homans.

I guess I'm not as up on this controversy as I should be, because its resolution doesn't seem that difficult to me

First tier. Bush, Cheney, and Addington cannot be prosecuted. They didn't torture anybody, and more importantly, they didn't tell anyone else to do so ("This government doesn't torture.")

Second tier. What they did do is demand the acquisition of information which would achieve the desired end of forestalling attacks against the country. It was up to the CIA to do its best to provide that information. The Agency -- or more properly, the careerists and opportunists who occupy its top positions -- chose to employ torture in order to acquire the information they sought.

So, charge the CIA officials who directed the program. And to the extent that Yoo and Bybee conspired with these officials to induce lower level operatives to do the deed, charge them, as well.

The advice of legal counsel (the OLC memos) is a red herring. Although relying in good faith on the opinion of counsel may mitigate the punishment, legal opinions don't excuse the criminal acts or the criminal's responsibility for perpetrating them.

Sheesh ...

Someone who doesn't feel they need to respect the laws of the United States, nor the right to habeas corpus?

I don't think this individual really understands what the right to habeas corpus truly entails.

Why should non-American enemy soldiers that have been captured trying to kill Americans be given the right to habeas corpus?

Should these rights have been given to the prisoners of war detained on US soil during World War II?

The world isn't black and white and mistakes like Arar are going to be made. But to give all terrorists the right of habeas corpus seems like a mistake to me. We should only respect Human Rights for people who's goal in life isn't to kill innocent civilians

The Constitution says that habeas corpus can be suspended during invasion or rebellion. I disagree with the SC's interpretation that we aren't living under the suspension clause today.

Something stinking in the pond?

It's been a busy Thanksgiving Holiday 'round the Café. It's ironic that trolls seem to be real busy at these times.

Take this one for example:

Obama is already reneging on his 16-month pledge to pull all combat troops in Iraq... what's his thinking...that he could pull one over on those dumb-azz Liberals on the Left, becuz they really did fall for his Bull Sh***t....'wiggle room' my azz...

Here we go again...

Ya' gotta love the mindless for their tenacity.

This is quite a revelation: Saddam's biggest problem is that "he couldn't come to trust people". Not that he was a sadistic mass murderer. No, that couldn't be the problem. It was his distrustful personality. Otherwise he would have been fine. Yeah. No wonder why so many commentators here at TMP hate the guy who ousted him so much....Saddam had so much fine potential.

It's been a busy few days 'round the pond...

Plenty of Real Americans I've talked to are still afraid to leave their homes since Nov. 4th, and are reduced to eating left over Ramen noodles and that stuff in the tinfoil that's been in the freezer since last Spring. They are fearful. They just know that after Jan. 20th, Obama's Liberal Army will come take away their guns, force their kids to into gayness, and demand their loyalty to the United Socialistic States of America.

So, no, I don't believe that's a mandate.

Public perception of the string of criminals he nominated to cabinet positions has not caught up to Obama's ratings yet, as hasn't the exposure of the details of the porkulus bill he supports.

Already his handlers are corroborating with all the news actors to make Pelosi the heavy for the pork bill in daily conference calls.

His ratings are tanking, and will tank to a nadir with convenient timing. Timing is gonna be perfect for a '94 remake in the midterms.
