As a Texan, I have to wonder if McCain & company has any real clue as to WHO the Maverick family is, and what the general family politics has been ... for generations. A google search on "Maverick Family" give some idea. "The ORIGINAL Mavericks"? I don't think so. Someone should jump on this, like in New York City, seeing as many of the family papers are in the NYPL.

Rove babbles on and on and on about Obama's lack of exerience, and McCain about his lack of military experience, and the ability "to be CIC from day one".

Shall we cast on eyes on Bush 43?

He had business experience, of the failing sort. He was picked to be a front man, for publicity purposes of a dubiously major league" baseball organization. Then Mr. Rove thought he was JUST RIGHT to be groomed to be President, so Mr. Rove ran his campaign for governor of Texas. In Texas the governor has next to zero REAL political power, which from Karl Rove's viewpoint was perfect. Big state, no power, but a large pulpit. So while running for governor Dubya was also starting his run for President.

And so it came to pass that a man with no political experience, dismal business experience, and no military experience became "Commander in Chief", and has the chutzpah to question anyone else's ability. And the Democrats are not leaping on this? Somebody's asleep at the switch.

Then there's Cheney, another no military experience (except avoiding it) "expert".

I'll omit the brilliant military genuis those two picked to be commander of "shock and awe", Tommy Franks. Or that other brilliant military tactician, Rumsfield.

And, yes, McCain endured terrible things as a POW. If I didn't know about it before, I've certainly heard, and heard, and heard now. Now, exactly HOW does being a POW give one the training and experience to command troops, and be a military tactician? His father was an Admiral, but I can find no great record of John McCain being much of a military leader. Only that if one has the temerity to bring it up, one is chastised for mentioning it, as he endured so much as a POW. I somehow don't think he commanded many troops, nor planned many military exercises while he was a POW, so his CIC credentials are not all that great.

So, why aren't the people in charge in the Democratic side noticing this?
This may be old news here, but I've not seen it mentioned.

"WASHINGTON - Sen. Barack Obama has won the overall delegate race in Texas thanks to a strong showing in Democratic county conventions this past weekend.

Obama picked up seven of nine outstanding delegates, giving him a total of 99 Texas delegates to the party's national convention this summer. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won the other two, giving her a total of 94 Texas delegates, according to an analysis of returns by The Associated Press.

Texas Democrats held both a presidential primary and caucus. Clinton narrowly won the popular vote in the state's primary March 4, earning her 65 national convention delegates to Obama's 61.

Precinct caucuses began immediately after polls closed primary night and quickly devolved into chaos in many parts of the state because of an unprecedented turnout of more than 1 million Democrats. The state party was never able to provide complete results from the caucuses, which is why the AP withheld nine delegates.

The precinct caucuses elected delegates to about 280 county and state senate district conventions on Saturday. The AP awarded the remaining delegates based on results from Saturday's conventions, showing Obama with about 58 percent of vote, compared to 42 percent for Clinton.

Obama won 38 delegates through the caucus/convention system, and Clinton won 29.

The final delegate allocation will be decided at the party's state convention June 6-7, and the numbers could change if either campaign is unable to maintain the level of support they had over the weekend."
A question no one has bothered to mention is exceedingly relevant. Exactly what was her majesty's security clearance level when she was first lady?

There are several levels, and I somehow don't think she was very high ... if even rated, therefore the "red telephone" blurb was just that, an advertising blurb, all hot air, with no substance.

This is a question that someone besides an antiquated Texan should be raising ... in the interests of national security.

Oh, why do I call her "her majesty"? Because she herself, and her minions seem to think that eight years as first lady qualify her for an elevated status.
