The Maverick family

As a Texan, I have to wonder if McCain & company has any real clue as to WHO the Maverick family is, and what the general family politics has been ... for generations. A google search on "Maverick Family" give some idea. "The ORIGINAL Mavericks"? I don't think so. Someone should jump on this, like in New York City, seeing as many of the family papers are in the NYPL.

Is Palin wearing "Cosmetic" glasses?

It is easy to tell from looking at spectacles on a persons face to tell whether the glasses are just to make the person look "studious", or if there is really a correction.  From looking at Alaska's Miss Congeniality, it seems to me that she is wearing window glass glasses.  Makes her appear less like a faded beauty queen, and move "believable".  The pictures where she has her tongue ever so provocatively barely showing, and the fake glasses does Hollywood proud on making a dim bulb look bright.

Let's talk about "experience"

Rove babbles on and on and on about Obama's lack of exerience, and McCain about his lack of military experience, and the ability "to be CIC from day one".

Shall we cast on eyes on Bush 43?

He had business experience, of the failing sort.  He was picked to be a front man, for publicity purposes of a dubiously major league" baseball organization.  Then Mr. Rove thought he was JUST RIGHT to be groomed to be President, so Mr. Rove ran his campaign for governor of Texas.  In Texas the governor has next to zero REAL political power, which from Karl Rove's viewpoint was perfect.  Big state, no power, but a large pulpit.  So while running for governor Dubya was also starting his run for President.

And so it came to pass that a man with no political experience, dismal business experience, and no military experience became "Commander in Chief", and has the chutzpah to question anyone else's ability.  And the Democrats are not leaping on this?  Somebody's asleep at the switch.

Then there's Cheney, another no military experience (except avoiding it) "expert".

I'll omit the brilliant military genuis those two picked to be commander of "shock and awe", Tommy Franks.  Or that other brilliant military tactician, Rumsfield.

And, yes, McCain endured terrible things as a POW.  If I didn't know about it before, I've certainly heard, and heard, and heard now.  Now, exactly HOW does being a POW give one the training and experience to command troops, and be a military tactician? His father was an Admiral, but I can find no great record of John McCain being much of a military leader. Only that if one has the temerity to bring it up, one is chastised for mentioning it, as he endured so much as a POW.  I somehow don't think he commanded many troops, nor planned many military exercises while he was a POW, so his CIC credentials are not all that great.

So, why aren't the people in charge in the Democratic side noticing this?

Scott McClellan's family

The book just out by Scott McClellan is going to cause nightmares in Republican backrooms.  Scott's grandfather was a brilliant political tactician, in addition to being a widely acclaimed tort lawyer.  Any one of the family  could out think Karl Rove before their morning coffee, and Scott is not the dumbest.  He and his brothers were in every corner of power in the Bush regime, and that family stays together.  Things should get right interesting.  If I were Carole Keeton Strayhorn, I would be very worried about my baby son's continued health.  The timing of the book is hardly an accident.

George Stephanopoulos' History

I've not seen it mentioned, but there should be some mention, I think, of who George Stephanopoulos worked for, prior to becoming a talking head.

Along with James Carville, he worked toward getting Bill Clinton elected.  I don't recall hearing or reading any mention of that fact, lately.

From the other side

This just in from a rabid McCainite.  Don't know about the rest of you, but this makes me right bitter.

"LET ME SEE IF I HAVE THIS STRAIGHT:

HIS FATHER WAS A KENYAN, MOSLEM, BLACK - WE HAVE SEEN PICTURES OF HIS
AFRICAN "FAMILY"

HIS MOTHER IS A KANSAN, ATHEIST, WHITE-
WHERE ARE THE PICTURES OF HIS KANSAN, WHITE MOTHER AND HIS WHITE
GRANDPARENTS WHO RAISED HIM?

HIS FATHER DESERTED HIS MOTHER AND HIM WHEN HE WAS VERY YOUNG AND WENT BACK TO HIS FAMILY IN KENYA

HIS MOTHER MARRIED AN INDONESIAN MOSLEM AND TOOK HIM TO JAKARTA WHERE HE WAS SCHOOLED IN A MOSLEM SCHOOL

HIS MOTHER RETURNED TO HAWAII AND HE WAS RAISED BY HIS WHITE KANSAN
GRANDPARENTS

HE LATER WENT TO THE BEST HIGH DOLLAR SCHOOLS; HOW?

HE LIVES IN A $1.4 MILLION DOLLAR HOUSE THAT HE ACQUIRED THROUGH A DEAL WITH A WEALTHY FUND RAISER; HOW?

HE "WORKED" AS A CIVIL RIGHTS ACTIVIST IN CHICAGO - HAS NEVER HELD A
PRODUCTIVE JOB.  He has never even run a corner hot dog stand. Or met a
payroll.  Or managed anything besides his political offices and his speeches. And he wants you to believe that he should be CEO of the most powerful and complex nation in the world, and Commander In Chief of our armed forces???

THE PRESIDENCY IS NOT A CIVIL RIGHTS POST!

NOR IS IT SUBJECT TO AFFIRMATIVE ACTION SET ASIDES!

HE ENTERED POLITICS AT THE STATE LEVEL AND THEN THE NATIONAL LEVEL WHERE HE HAS MINIMAL EXPERIENCE

HE IS PROUD OF HIS "AFRICAN HERITAGE" BUT IT SEEMS THAT HIS ONLY  AFRICAN CONNECTION WAS THAT HIS AFRICAN FATHER GOT A WHITE GIRL PREGNANT AND DESERTED HER. I DIDN'T KNOW THAT SPERM CARRIED A "CULTURAL" GENE. WHERE IS THE PRIDE IN HIS WHITE CULTURE?

HE GOES (for twenty years) TO A "AFROCENTRIC" CHURCH THAT HATES WHITES, HATES JEWS, AND BLAMES AMERICA FOR ALL THE WORLDS PERCEIVED FAULTS AND THEN REPEATEDLY COVERS UP FOR THE PASTOR AND THE CHURCH

HE CLAIMS THAT HE COULD NOT CONFRONT HIS PASTOR BUT HE WANTS US TO
BELIEVE THAT HE CAN CONFRONT NORTH KOREA AND IRAN, RIGHT!!!

YEAH, I THINK I SEE HOW HE COULD BE A UNITER AND BRING US TOGETHER. I
THINK THE HOPE IS THAT HE HOPES NO ONE WILL PUT THE PIECES TOGETHER!"

AP say Obama gets more Texas delegates

This may be old news here, but I've not seen it mentioned.

"WASHINGTON - Sen. Barack Obama has won the overall delegate race in Texas thanks to a strong showing in Democratic county conventions this past weekend.

Obama picked up seven of nine outstanding delegates, giving him a total of 99 Texas delegates to the party's national convention this summer. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton won the other two, giving her a total of 94 Texas delegates, according to an analysis of returns by The Associated Press.

Texas Democrats held both a presidential primary and caucus. Clinton narrowly won the popular vote in the state's primary March 4, earning her 65 national convention delegates to Obama's 61.

Precinct caucuses began immediately after polls closed primary night and quickly devolved into chaos in many parts of the state because of an unprecedented turnout of more than 1 million Democrats. The state party was never able to provide complete results from the caucuses, which is why the AP withheld nine delegates.

The precinct caucuses elected delegates to about 280 county and state senate district conventions on Saturday. The AP awarded the remaining delegates based on results from Saturday's conventions, showing Obama with about 58 percent of vote, compared to 42 percent for Clinton.

Obama won 38 delegates through the caucus/convention system, and Clinton won 29.

The final delegate allocation will be decided at the party's state convention June 6-7, and the numbers could change if either campaign is unable to maintain the level of support they had over the weekend."

You know, HRC should read her quotes, you know

You know, the really super smart (you know, self admitted), you know super educated, you know totally vetted, you know, totally ready to step in, well, right now, you know, HRC, would be well advised to read over her, you know, quotes, you know.
Read over her quoted quotes, and there are just a tad over way too many "you knows" contained therein.  Would we be in for four years of "you knows" instead of Bushie's inadroit language?  For some one who's so vocally proud of her abilities,  and a lawyer, her command, lately, of the English language is sophomoric.  Just an observation, IMHO.

A thought on

"[ed.note: A few readers seem to have had the misimpression that we might agree with DT's email. Ummm ... not so. And in case there's any question, most of DT's claims are patently false. Actually I'm not sure there's a single claim that has any factual validity to it. But sometimes I think it's worthwhile to know what folks on the fringes are thinking, especially when the fringes are growing in toward the center.]

I'm assuming that DT is short for Delirium Tremens.  It certainly isn't for Deep Thinking.

Prosperity is just around the corner?

Bush probably has absolutely no idea his remarks today regarding the economy have some echoes of the past, like Herbert Hoover's.  Hope the next chapter in this eras version is happier.

Who are Hillary's rabid supporters?

Women who were the first feminists.  They are now very indignant that women aren't all that interested in "having it all".  The very idea that some women "who are well educated, and have the advantages that WE fought for are electing stay home and "just" be mothers".  The very idea.  Stay home and bake cookies.  Stand by your man.

These are hardly a large voting block, but they have loud voices.  Still.  And these nice ladies are also the ones who elected Richard Nixon in 1968, by either not voting, or casting a "protest vote".  Which they have, to a large extent been doing ever since.  Which is how we got Clarence Thomas, et cetera on the supreme court.  You  see, they  "have principles".  But damn little common sense.

"Hillary can beat McCain".  Yeah, and I will wake up in the morning gorgeous and 25, with a sunny disposition.

Re: Did Clinton win Ohio etc.

It's always a good thing to get one's facts and names correct.  Like, for example Obama's economic advisor, whom you identified as "Austin Goolsby".  Wrong twice, he is rather well known, and respected, as Austen Goolsbee.  Nit picky, but correct.

HRC, your security clearance was?

A question no one has bothered to mention is exceedingly relevant.  Exactly what was her majesty's security clearance level when she was first lady?

There are several levels, and I somehow don't think she was very high ... if even rated, therefore the "red telephone" blurb was just that, an advertising blurb, all hot air, with no substance.

This is a question that someone besides an antiquated Texan should be raising ... in the interests of national security.

Oh, why do I call her "her majesty"?  Because she herself, and her minions seem to think that eight years as first lady qualify her for an elevated status.

View Texas results with large dose of salt

I live in Texas, and I'm OLD.  Most of my friends are so republican they refuse even to turn left.  They voted, en masse, for Hillary, in the primary, and dutifully, with walkers, went to caucus.  Why?  VERY simple, Republicans know that Obama can beat McCain, and Hillary can't.  Tres simple.  As has been the case for many elections the Dems nominate the person that Republicans dream about..  Oldbag
