Executive Experience

Barack Obama has no political executive experience but Sarah Palin does......

....so did George W Bush!

Barack Obama has foreign policy experience but Sarah Palin doesn't.....

neither did George W. Bush!

Why is this relevant? Because John Bush, uh I mean, John McCain, has an 86% actuarial chance of not surviving his first term in office. Is Ms Palin the person YOU want one heartbeat away from the presidency?

Do You Know Barack Obama?

I keep hearing over and over again that voters don't 'know' him. I find this extremely perplexing. He is the author of two books about his life and his views - 'Dreams from My Father', a biography that charts his upbringing, his coming of age, his education and his foray into public life; 'The Audacity of Hope', an examination and expression of his thoughts and views on Values, the Constitution, Politics, Opportunity, Faith, Race, the World and Family.

Everything that anyone wants or needs to know about him is in one of these two well-written documents. I was inspired by his story when I read Dreams several months ago. I am about halfway through AOH and I am thouroughly impressed. Every single view that he has put forth during this primary and election cycle is articulated in these pages. In fact, several passages from this book have found their way into his stump speeches and issues addresses.

Unfortunately, we will always have those low information voters in our midst; those who rely on soundbites and opeds for their news. However, I urge anyone with a semblance of literacy and intelligence to take the time to sit down and READ these books. You will learn every thing there is to know about who Barack Obama is and why he is the right person for the job of the 44th President of the United States.

Obama Winning Popular Vote!!

I have been thinking about this whole popular vote argument from the Clinton campaign so I decided to see how they came up with this voodoo math.

According to Real Clear Politics the only measure under which Clinton is ahead in the popular vote is if:
     - the caucus states of IA, NV, ME and WA are excluded
     - MI and FL are included AS IS

Fine, if that is the way they want to look at it BUT this assumes that Obama received NO votes in Michigan. Now of course, at least some of the 237,762 (source: CNN.com) Uncommitted votes were for Obama. Lets assume that he and Edwards split that vote. If you average all of the percentages for Edwards while he was in the race (Iowa through Florida), he captures 16.6% of the total vote. Translated to the Michigan results, he gets 97,937 of 589,984 leaving Obama with 138,056 or 23.4% of the total popular vote.

Now, what does this mean for the total popular vote? If you use the calculation above (without caucus states but with FL and MI), Obama has  16,684,752 and Clinton has 16,711,719. If you give Obama his 23.4% of MI, his total becomes 16,822,808!

Indiana Exit Polls Info they haven't talked about.....

According to the CNN Exit Polls,

                                                        Clinton      Obama
Voters who earn less than $50K        50%           50%
Voters who earn less than $100K      51%           49%

So I guess her 'populist' argument and her gas tax pandering didn't fly, huh?

Penn vs Golsbee

Highly Paid Chief Strategist who heads a firm who was being paid millions of dollars by a foreign government to lobby the US government to pass a new trade deal and who traveled to said foreign country for the purpose of meeting with officials from said foreign government to represent a position diametrically opposed to his candidate

vs

Unpaid volunteer economic advisor / professor who in the course of a conversation with a low level foreign official from a country who shares a border and with whom we have extensive diplomatic and economic ties discusses an existing trade deal and his candidate's long-standing position
