but what really choked me up was that america had overwhelmingly voted for reason, intellect, humanity, empathy, and compassion in their leader. i got my first taste (in a loooong time) of seeing those qualities in a president yesterday during the press conference.
it's still sort of hard to accept that this is really happening. i feel like a dog that has been repeatedly beaten -- it takes a long time before the dog stops cowering when someone raises their hand to pet him. my trust in voters and the presidency has been severely compromised and it's going to take some time before i'm comfortable again, but it's nice to be back in a loving family again.

stripping joe outright of his position solely because of the things he said, no matter how offensive, smacks of the current administration's hyper-retributive playbook.
while i cannot fucking STAND lieberman, something about stripping him of a leadership position solely because he exercised his freedom of speech ... well ... it kind of creeps me out. just as much as the things he said creeped me out.
i know this post may draw a lot of fire, but i can't help how uneasy this makes me feel.
