After watching America steer itself into a right wing ditch of despotism, demolition and despair, dare I believe that Obama can give the good old US of A the liberal moment it so desperately needs?

Maybe the redemption has come. Obama's insight is that after possibly the worst President is US history, Americans are not simply looking for a better manager of the general store, they are in desperate need of redemption. They are looking for the preacher who will remind them of Gods love for them and show them the path to absolution.

Obama gets it.

Interestingly, Huckabee gets it too. Although I would argue that Huck's redemptive vision has some serious dark undertones, in particular the church traditions of the Confederacy and a tendency towards apocalyptic thinking. Not all saviors are good and we should be conscious of just how dangerous and volatile a President Huckabee would be as we cheer on his humiliation of McCain until the latter's confirmation as the nominee.
