Homeless White Woman Gunned Down in Hate Crime on Streets of Phoenix, Arizona

A gunman opened fire on a 39-year-old woman and her friend early Saturday morning in what Phoenix police are calling a possible hate crime.

The woman, whose name wasn't released, was shot dead. Her friend, Jeffrey Wellmaker, 48, told police he and the woman were walking in Palma Park, on 12th Street and Dunlap Avenue around 1:30 a.m. when a heavily tattooed, bald White man confronted them.

Wellmaker, who is Black, said the tattooed man yelled, "What are you doing with that White woman," said Detective James Holmes, a Phoenix police spokesman. The friends, who are homeless, didn't respond and kept walking, Holmes said. Investigators don't know why the couple was in the park, police said....based on the description of the shooter, "one could assume it might have been racially motivated," Holmes said. report link

FYI. Racism alive and active on gun saturated streets of Arizona. Is there any doubt the venom and anti-Obama hostility of the right-wing is killing people?

They were in the park because the report says they were 'homeless'. Perhaps the shelters were full or John McCain didn't give them the keys to one of his 7 houses.

I think racial violence has existed for some time, and on all sides. Was the recent case of black kids on a bus attacking a white kid the result of Obama's election? Stop blaming the GOP for everything.

user-pic

Funny I saw no reference to the GOP in this diary.

user-pic

You don't equate "anti-Obama" and "right-wing" with the GOP?

user-pic

What?

Hey braincell ... Try and look at this way.

There are plenty of ultra right-wing wackos who hate Obama and are not even remotely related to your darling Grand Old Party and would kick your ass within an inch of your life if they knew you didn't approve of their hateful actions.

Now try and spin that one dumb ass.

That is just hyperbole. My question was meant for jsfox as a response to his.

Hey . . .

Braincell . . .

You can call your ass a turkey but it don't make it Thanksgiving.

I have some hyperbole and a sack full of rhetoric hanging between my thighs for you, you twit.

You're as full of crap as Christmas Goose.

That was determined to by a typical fight over a bus seat and not racially motivated.

BTW the vast majority of hate crimes are committed by white people against people of color, homosexuals, or non-christian religions.

user-pic

There you go again, talkin' facts.

user-pic

"talkin' facts"

See there is typical far left linquistic framing--You've been sitting at Lakoff's feet--you throw that out there as if everyone didn't know about the famous liberal bias that polling has revealed amongst a random sample of facts...Like you didn't know that facts are registered Bolshevik on a five to one margin over Royalist!

user-pic

Ya but you notice they weren't shot in a bar or restaurant. Bars and restaurants are safer now because Arizona just made it legal to concealed-carry in there.

user-pic

So the logic here is that Obama had to do with the fact that this man is very racist and went nuts because he saw a black man walking with a white woman?

Interesting.

user-pic

If you are racist enough to shoot and kill a total stranger for walking with a Black, I would tend to believe relentless 'baby killing, hates whites, death panels, Nazi, socialist, will take your guns away' right wing/GOP attacks on Obama might tend to push you over the edge. It might just push you to use your precious gun on an easy target, or even worse violence.

That is what Janet Napolitano and others have warned about, that is what cases like this represent, white racists with hate intensified and encouraged by right-wing media because a Black man is President.

Like I said in my comment . . .

. . . to both MCB and BS Bulldog up-thread here

There are plenty of ultra right-wing wackos who hate Obama and are not even remotely related to your darling Grand Old Party and would kick your ass within an inch of your life if they knew you didn't approve of their hateful actions.

Although, I'm sure that most likely fell on their deaf ears...

OGD - The truth is Limbaugh, Beck, the Teabaggers and right wing media like Fox News spread the lies and throw the matches in the flammable fuel of racism in this country, and when people are gunned down in the street in crimes of hate, they claim "its not us, its not our fault".

It is their fault and anyone who doesn't face that fact is living in a world of delusion.

user-pic

Perhaps you are right. But Bulldog's version of the truth I think is equally likely. Maybe Napolitano is right. Maybe before Obama there were 10,000 lunatics out there who were likely to do something like what happened in AZ. And now that he's in office there are 10,100. It's worse than before, but by how much?

Of all the hate crimes out there, what % are due to the President being in office? I bet it's an awfully small percentage.

But your guess is as good as mine.

user-pic

Welcome to Rush Limbaugh's America .....

user-pic

what i want to know is why isn't the msm reporting this. if it were the reverse, and he was shot, it would make the news
