Scene: Convention podium, final night. Security guards are dragging Hillary off the floor; two elderly Florida unseated "delegates" are trying to hold onto Hillary's legs to stop them. Hillary is yelling: "Don't tase me, bro!"
That's a scene only John McCain could love (and maybe the SNL scriptwriters too). The sensible superdelegates are not going to let this happen. They will want Hillary to go quietly, and Florida and Michigan to be seated without a credentials fight.
So how can this be achieved? Asking Hillary nicely to "please go away now" is simply not going to work. She has shown she's a fighter, and any perceived "bullying" is only going to make things worse. She wants to create as much uncertainty as possible (Florida, Michigan, big states, working-class Democrats, "popular vote"). The only thing that will calm things down is certainty in the form of 2024 delegates (or perhaps 2208 delegates if Michigan and Florida are fully seated) for Obama.
Obama is currently 400 delegates away from the lower target. Once voting is over (June 3rd, or conceivably before) expect to see a flood of superdelegates into the Obama camp, including such current Hillary supporters as Barney Frank, who recently pretty much said he would switch once the voting is over. Once Obama's numbers are overwhelming, Florida and Michigan can be seated without issue.
It's then going to be up to Hillary whether she concedes willingly and makes nice (which is what I bet will happen) or whether we get McCain's dream "tase" scenario.
