TALK POLICE ALERT!
I just heard Ned Lamont on Rachel Maddow use the word "dithering" twice. My heart sank. The word drips of Dickard Cheney's ectoplasm. Kill "dithering." Let's pray it does not encroach upon poltical discourse.
TABU WORD....DITHERING*
*it's ok to quote .Cheney.

pothering...that's hot.
disjunction...good term, right off the pages of Irwin Panofsky, the great art historian.
I vote yes on both.

yeah; dithering causes me to think about attmpting to approximate hues in lossy colour schemes (ie 16, 32, 64, 128, etc colour palettes). often ugly, in terms of art.

I enjoy using Roget’s 1922 International Thesaurus. The complete reference work is online at Bartleby.com, and is one of my first web stops when researching English words.
The link I gave for disjunction above is illustrative:
Words Expressing Abstract Relations --> Quantity --> Conjunctive Quantity --> Disjunction.

I say, let the President 'Dither'. As some wags said, George and Dick should have dithered awhile before Shock and Awe.
