Xe Competition - Wind Zero
Looks like there's a paramilitary turf-war brewing out here in my neighborhood. Check out the Wind Zero Project:
Heh...slick website - you can't copy/paste text from it. How charmingly paramil, huh?
Looks like Xe (Blackwater) set up a front web site to try to thwart the competition: Wind Zero Uncovered.
Xe (Blackwater) abandoned its plans for a 824 acre training facility due to community pressure, and stated it was because the noise all those faux firefights would generate would exceed San Diego County's noise caps.
Heh...slick website - you can't copy/paste text from it. How charmingly paramil, huh?
Looks like Xe (Blackwater) set up a front web site to try to thwart the competition: Wind Zero Uncovered.
Wind Zero Group, Inc., a privately-owned security services company, wants to build a "training facility" on 963 acres in the Ocotillo-Nomirage area of Imperial County, California. Wind Zero's proposed facility is nearly identical to what Blackwater USA attempted and ultimately failed to construct in Potrero, CA in early 2008 due to the response of the local community.I don't really know if this is a Xe front - but look around the web site. There are no names, not even on the "contact" page. If it was a community based product, I don't think this would be the case. But there's an excellent link to a community meeting with the Wind Zero principals.
Faced with STRONG OPPOSITION to their proposed facility, WIND ZERO IS TRYING TO RE-BRAND THEIR PROJECT by luring people into believing it is NOT really a Blackwater-like training facility, but is going to be a "recreational training resort" replete with a driving track intended to cater primarily to private motorsports and gun enthusiasts.
THIS IS 100% PURE DECEPTION. Wind Zero is trying to veil its proposed 400-acre "training facility" (note that Blackwater West's facility was only going to be 350 acres!) behind a 600-acre "motorsport enthusiasts" track. This is intentional. This is deliberate. This is deceptive. There are video clips located in each section of this website that show this.
Wind Zero is not really seeking to be a provider of "recreational" anything. To see for yourself, check out their most recent limited distribution marketing material at this link here:
Wind Zero Flyer (click here)
Wind Zero's massive facility is proposed to be built on archaeologically and ecologically sensitive land with very scarce water resources.
Please visit the other tabs on the upper left for more information regarding Wind Zero and join the campaign to stop this project! In the coming weeks this site will be updated with information on how to get involved.

I suppose you have to be a person to be a traitor. But wait, XE was and is a traitor...stole money, committed fraud on the US government during war time, killed our allies while the US was at war, killed innocent civilians...
We must prosecute XE as traitors and they deserve no government contracts of any kind.
Good journalism Neo. ha

Would it help to call your county administrator? Call a local teevee station that does investigations?

I think the resistance is already organized here in Imperial County, Wendy. It may not look like much, but there are some serious environmental issues that could turn the project. The desert is extremely sensitive. You almost have to get on your hands and knees and crawl around to experience its wonders. But the land in question is on a huge alluvial plane sloping down from the coast range, and it's already famous for very dangerous flash flooding. And the topography is such that it all funnels into the town of Ocotillo. Ocotillo just got hit by a very severe storm we had over the Labor Day weekend. Lots of damage and washed out roads. If Wind Zero gets it permit, it will exacerbate this threat.
There's a "secret" there too. Just north of town are the Coyote Mountains, and these mountains are abundant with class A marble deposits. Lovely stuff, I have several marble boulders and rock sitting around the garden.

Great highlight! There is a very similar environmental situation around Vegas (different flavors of secret minerals). You guys have Desert Tortoises, no? If so, that's one hell of a habitat to lose!
So, I'm confused. The Wind Zero site is talking like they've got a whole mess of stuff either built or almost built. Is their web site selling vaporware?
BTW, you can copy/paste from their site by right-clicking in the text-display widget and then choosing "select all" from the options list that pops up (assuming you are using Windows). Ctrl+C and you've got it.

Well, you're sort of embarrassing me. To tell you the truth I just discovered what Wind Zero was today. It comes up now and then in the comments on the local newspaper's blog, and I thought it was some sort of energy project. At any rate I'm not exactly sure what the status of the project is.
I'm not sure if there are tortoises out there. But you could check out either the Yuha desert or Anza Borrego State Park, as the area in question lies between these two protected areas.

And also, you should consider editing this post's settings and clicking on the Muckraker category, and maybe even the DC one. This is way more relevant to current events than some of the pathetic drivel that's sitting on those lists right now.
