DEAR CINDY: PLEASE GO HOME
Dear Ms. Sheehan:
Local Dallas news stations are reporting that you are going to march later today through the neighborho
Please don't!
I cannot claim to understand
Any protest you launch targeting him simply shows you to be vindictive
There are many options available to honor both the memory of your son and his service. Please look for something positive to honor him with.
Wouldn't your son prefer that?

Wow. I disagree.
I don't think she's vindictive. I think she is brave. I think she is angry and has every right to be. I don't think our country has gotten angry enough about what has happened at the hands of our government. It's like we've had a repupblican mafia family in charge and they have abused and pillaged our country to make sure that they passed the power and fortune around to their friends. I have no problem with her reminding us all that her son died in an unjust war because of the actions of GW, Cheney, et familia.
She's working with what she's got to take action and express herself. We need more of that not less in my opinion.

I second all that!

"I don't think our country has gotten angry enough "...
- of course what you really MEAN is that you don't think the country has gotten as angry as you.
The fact that Cindy is now a professional martyr is great, not because there is nothing honestly and truly useful she can do by marching there, but because it fans the flames.
But you know what? It's someone else's personal jihad, not yours...

You certainly have a right to your own opinion
BUT you certainly DO NOT have a right to tell me what mine is or how angry 'I AM'.
I have not gotten angry enough. That is certianly true.
Cindy is not martyr to me. But I am a mother and if GW caused me to lose my daughter over this machination of BS, I would like to think I would take a similar stand.
What she does do in my opinion is call more attention to the fact that this was a war of choice. The choice of GW and Cheney et al.
I think it's important that this not get lost because we are now dealing with it under a new adminstration.
We all have a right to our perceptions. You even have a right to your perceptions about me. However I do not accept you telling me how I feel or what I think. You are highly unqualified to do so. Just as I would be unqualified to tell the world what you think and feel.
Best wishes!

We all grieve in different ways...
My son was in the Army and narrowly escaped being deployed in both Afghanistan and Iraq. At the time, I still believed there were WMDs...after all our leaders said they were there, and I believed them. I knew there was a chance my son would die to protect the world from them. I never had to be one of those moms called on to sacrifice their child in those wars. Had I been, then found out the bastards lied to us, I'd be doing what she's doing, and probably a lot more. They killed our children for nothing. How could you not be pissed?

I completely understand the rage against Pres. Bush for the Iraq War. It was and still is a terrible waste of life! Yes, we were lied to. Yes, Cindy Sheehan has every right to be upset and to hate George Bush with all her heart.
But there is a "BIG PICTURE" aspect to all of this as well. Regardless of what you read on DAILYKOS or hear on MSM...there are still many conservatives in this country. There are even more moderates who lean conservative. Many of them voted for Obama in the last election...that in no way guarantees their vote in the next election!
Unless you want to go back to someone very much like Bush (can you say President Palin?), liberals have to do this right! And that means keeping our focus on what is coming up!
America has done horrible things since 9/11. But the future holds an Iran with nuclear weapons, North Korea in a power struggle, more high prices, unemployment reaching 10%, record deficits, war on two fronts, etc.
To face these challenges, we must be a united country! That means we need those moderate conservatives to continue to support the President's agenda. And that means that compromises will be made. And that means that we have a responsibility to represent ourselves in a manner that will help draw in the support of moderates.
Unfortunately, Ms. Sheehan's protest of a past president who is out of power comes across to moderates as petty and silly.
I'm not saying that it is...but it gives that appearance to others. There are better ways for her to express her anger! March on Washington to push for war crime trials if that is what you feel like. But direct it at the current president...not the guy in Texas!
Yes, elections have consequences...but don't forget they are always followed by NEW elections. Let's not repeat 1994 midterms again!
