  • Location In a basement in Conifer, Colorado, about 10 miles up in the mountains out of Denver. 8205 feet above sea level -- soon to be in a house that has been being renovated for 8 months now.
  • Party Democrat
  • Politics All I really care about is civil liberties. If you lose that then everything else follows too fast to stop. I think the freedom to speak precludes anyone from claiming a freedom from being offended. In fact, I'm a lot more of a freedom to person than a freedom from person. And I think that everything has to be governed by a philosophy of fairness, and I'm more a believer in equal opportunity than equal outcomes.

Favorites

  • Favorite Blogs I like Greenwald, and then to show my shallower side, Gregg Doyel and Television Without Pity. I also spend way too much time at Gatorcountry.com
  • Favorite Books The Green by Troon McAllister pretty much has all you need to know about life. John Irving and Pat Conroy make my shake my head in envious disbelief. Pam Houston wrote five of the best short stories I've ever read in her books Cowboys are my Weakness and Waltzing the Cat. Stephen Dunn's poems are a place to come home to when I get lost. When he had a point to make. Tom Robbins could write the socks off anyone. Also, for straight ideas, Neil Gaimen rules, even if his comic-book roots get too stiff sometimes. I also read the Fountainhead every few years -- think what you will about Rand, that is a book about artistic purity, with very little of the rest of it thrown in.
  • Favorite Quotes The course that's hard f still steers -- a misheard Jimmy Buffet quote Life should be a reach -- an 80s ad for Freedom Sailboats No whining in paradise -- Shelton Adams, my old man. July 1945- April 2000 The path of least resistance is catching up with me again today -- Brandi Carlisle To truly follow her was to wait until she wrote it down, until she herself knew where she had been. -- Stephen Dunn

Bio

Former sportswriter, editor and unpublished novelist turned new home salesman. Father or a nearly-six-year-old girl genius and twin nearly-3-year-old insane boys. I'm tired most of the time.
