March Forth for America!

Maybe we took our eyes off the prize too soon ... So ... here's a thought:

How about we organize a Stand-up-for Obama day, on  March 4th. We could call it March Forth for America, and we could get a couple million people marching on Washington to dramatically re-assert what we thought we made abundantly clear in November; WE WANT WHAT WE VOTED FOR!   CONGRESS: DO WHAT WE ELECTED YOU TO DO AND DO IT NOW!  SUPPORT OUR PRESIDENT!!  NO CONCESSIONS TO REPUBLICAN OBSTRUCTIONISTS!!  WE DEMAND YOU APPLY THE FULL EXTENT OF THE LAW TO THOSE WHO IGNORED THE CONSTITUTION!!  We voted, you enact ... NOW!

C'mon, where are the brilliant young organizers that used to hang out here? You did great and amazing things for our cause last year, but this is now and the things you did are in danger of being compromised, or worse yet, destroyed. We are on the verge of having our victory snatched from us by those whom we defeated!  I'm afraid we've rested on our laurels long enough. Time to get back into the trenches!

Maybe we need to paint the mandate in more vivid colors this time and pin it to all of the congress-person's jackets.

Yeah, sounds like one of them big hippie pow-wows like they had back in the 60s.

You are a couple of months late in announcing it though. for an event like you're describing, everyone should have quit bathing back in December!!!

I cannot get there from here in Minnesota.

I would not mind walking down our little old main street.

march 4, march forth. Ok with me

Spriche, you might be taken more seriously if you'd update your put-downs. You're using comedic references from 40 and 50 years ago to try to make cogent points about today's world.

Unfortunately, much like your political thoughts and opinions, your put-downs have become quaint, and have lost both their impact and their relevance in the 21st century.

So do everyone a favor, take your half a mind and go wait in the truck.

And have a nice day.

March Forth? This one made me smile, Mr Smith... because it's my birthday. For years, I've gotten family members to remember it by saying, "It's the only date that is also a command - March Forth!"

The other thing about the date is that it is the OLD Inauguration Date. FDR was sworn in on March 4th, 1933, I believe. So a date with some roots.

As for WHAT should be the focus that day, or whether it should all be in DC or spread across gatherings in many cities, I don't know. Some here have suggested a Walk for Universal Health Care. That might be a good focus. Or maybe on the Stimulus Bill. Or maybe, as you say, for Justice.

In reality, the timelines are probably a bit to tight, and the exact issue not quite clear yet. But you'd certainly have one major supporter for... MARCH FORTH! Cheers. ;-)

Quinn, there is, of course, another date that is a two-word complete sentence, although it is a question rather than a command; May One?

I like the FDR connection ... I had forgotten that.

(BTW, Happy Upcoming Bday!)
