"Obama Osama and Chelsea's Moma" and smiling Mitt

I don't know how to insert pictures (or if we even can), so you'll have to go to TMZ or DailyKos if you want to see the pic.

However, someone captured a couple photos of Mitt Romney with a supporter. The supporter is holding a sign that reads "No To Obama Osama and Chelsea's Moma"[sic]. In the first pic, Mitt has a shit-eating grin on his face. In the 2nd, he actually grabs and holds up the sign.

The folks over at TMZ interpret the sign to read "No to Obama, Osama, and Chelea's Moma", (note the commas) BUT I think it's more likely playing off the wonderful theme we got a taste of in January, and as such is meant to be read:

"No to Obama-Osama and Chelsea's Moma"

Should be interesting to see if anyone in the MSM picks this up and, if so, what they say about it. Also interesting to see if this hurts Mitt at all. I'm inclined to think that it might actually help him in the primaries, but this is something I would drag back up no matter who gets nominated for the Dems if he's the guy the GOP sends up.

Off-topic: No, images, etc, don't work here... We're all about the text. :-)

By the way, welcome to the Cafe. Only a few weeks, and you're stirring up trouble. Nice.

Thanks for the welcome. I've been reading the talking points for years, and when they expanded to the cafe´, I didn't really get what was going on, and ignored it. As the horse race aspect of the primary started to pick up, I started paying more attention to the election central, and eventually registered to post comments there. I still didn't realize there was a user-generated section to the site until literally the day I posted the thing on Edwards hair!

But I like it! Very cool. And yeah...I'm a trouble-maker :D

Though I really do try to see all sides of the argument, and try to remain respectful and cool-headed...but I don't always succeed.

I'm glad to have stumbled upon this place.

Feel free to ask questions, etc. It sometimes takes people a while to learn and get used to the details of the site.

And there are some "secret," not advertised too well links and things. This link, which we call "the tracker," shows all the posts on the site, in the "most recent commented on" order. It's a useful way to see where the conversation is at any point in time.

If you check under your Account section, you'll see a tab for "track," which provides the same function, but limits the view to only things in which you've posted.

It's helpful to bookmark both those URLs...

Aside from the Osama thing, I do wish politicians would stay away from bringing other politicians' children into political food fights in any way. That some of us riffraff make rude remarks about Jenna and Not Jenna, and Mitt's kidds, and Al Gore's wayward son, and... Chelsea, for reasons that I can't fathom... well, that's life, I guess.

But candidates shouldn't lend their credibility to anything that brings politicians' children into the picture. Unless those children play more than the usual child-of-the-candidate role in a campaign or in governance, they're not fair game.
