Glenn Greenwald author of How Would a Patriot Act? has a very depressing post up on the Michael Hayden nomination. Hayden's nomination sailed through the committee 12-3 with Feingold, Wyden and Byah voting against it citing concerns over Hayden's NSA activities. There were serious questions about Hayden, then in the middle a new story about NSA malfeasance a story that has bizarre twists and turns, and nothing. Not a damn thing.

Why? Why would they cave in like that? Why wouldn't they even try? Is it because another story pushed it out of the headlines? What does taht save about those those Senators and their priorities? How can people vote for cowards like that?

I want to cry. I really do want to cry. The very foundation of this country is being chopped down, the Constitution is being use as an ass-wipe for a child-king, and the people who have the responsibility are terrified. Well fuck them, I'm calling them un-American. Their cowardice makes them un-American.

The Republican Party is reeling. What is it going to take for them to realize that the when people call you liberals and you feel BAD about that, that those people have even MORE contempt for you if you meekly submit to them? Why are you scared? WHY?!?
