It seems only TPM has the guts to take it head-on. Even the Obama camp's reaction is tepid and light-weight. This should be an outrage by the left on so many levels: Leaked imigration information on this lady, the Saturday before the election, sent out to the AP from the administration, carried by Murdoch's Times of London.
How about let us also mention that she would be deported to Kenya where she was seeking asylum from the fighting there, is not wealthy and not bothering anyone, and is being intruded upon by the right-wing media.
Yet we allowed Fox & Drudge shout out that it was innapropriate to criticize Joe the Plumber even though he is campaigning for McCain.
Has everyone already checked-out? Are we going to let them get away with this kind of slander against someone Obama met maybe a handful of times in life? Just like we allowed the right to associate Obama with anyone he ever came into contact with?

This isn't really surprising, since Obama is unusually tepid and light-weight for a sociopath, but it's just a matter of time before the rest of his relatives get thrown under the bus like Grandma Dunham, that "typical white person."

I don't think this so called "smear" will amount to anything. It's not as if Obama was hiding his aunt out in his basement. Why should the Obama camp become exercised over the report?
If this is the best the McCain camp can do I am indeed heartened.

The problem is that this leaked illegally to the media. The outrage is over the fact that someone should get in trouble for this. (Unless I'm mistaken.)

I agree, whomever illegally released the information should be held to account.

CNN is picking up the leak story. It looks like Conyers's letter to Chertoff is the main draw. I think we can expect to see this spread.

I think with only 72 hours to go to election day that neutral statements from the campaign is a smart way to go. They don't want to add fuel to this fire so that it becomes bigger.
If they ignore it for the most part and stay focused on building and maintaining enthusiasm with voters, I really don't think this will be a big issue in this campaign.
It is truly silly if this is came about to try to help McCain AND the reality is that Senator Obama has the support of a majority of the minority groups in our country. Who knows, he could gain some more support in those communities because of this story.
I suppose that the republicans will try to use it as just one more issue to rally their base and try to get them out to vote.
This seems like throwing a pebble into the ocean. Not a big deal.
