Obama is a SOCIALIST

This is where the Obama camp is so very weak.

All this coming week, McCain will sound the socialist alarm through ridiculous claims too juicy for the MSM to pass up.

As was evidenced on the talk shows Sunday morning, Obama's camp does not have (a) any good surrogates and (b) has NO idea how to control the news cycle.

There are 2 important points to this "socialist" claim:

a. Obama was speaking about taxing the ridiculous profits of big corps like Exxon and spread THAT wealth around

b. Our tax code ALREADY taxes higher incomes. Why is that not labeled socialism? Obama just wants the higher rate to be put back to where it was prior to Bush W.

That is all they have to say. Keep it simple and repetitive. I cannot understand why Axelrod does not get this fundamental yet.

I know! Plouffe, Axelrod, and Obama are running such a stupid campaign! They should've lined up an endorsement from a prominent Republican, or some good news on the campaign financing front. They are such morons when it comes to the news cycles.

So many comments on this site demonstrate blindness. Take a look at the *media coverage*. Until the Wall St meltdown and Powell's own decision to endorse today, the talk has ALL been: Ayers, ACORN, Joe the Plumber, McCain's heroism, McCain's a maverick. Had those 2 events mentioned previousl not occurred, there would not be an Obama lead. Just go back and look at the trends in the polls at that time if you do not believe me.

It's shocking isn't it? I mean having started the campaign with all sorts of advantages--a little-known, black candidate with an outspoken minister and friends who once belonged to the Weather Underground pitted against (can you believe it?) a well-known war hero with a reputation for independence and integrity--they've only been able to open a six or seven point lead. I mean it's absolutely shocking how bad these guys are.

Fire the campaign. Please Democrats . . . get a competent staff--like the one that picked Palin.

It is shocking. Even with McCain's ugly campaign and Palin's incompetence, Zogby and Gallup likely voters give Obama only a 3% advantage, within the margin of error. Perhaps that means their campaign staff is superior because their candidates are weaker, yet polling well. Or is it to difficult for some people to respect and give kudos to an opponent? Nasty, ugly, dishonest, yes. But effective.

This post belongs on a "Freeper" site. No recommendations for this kind of shit.

Dude, you can choose to either deny it, not believe it or fight against it. But you must recognize the reality of what Obama's opponents will try to do and beat them at it. With the responses that I see here, complacency may be Obama's biggest problem facing him.

Sorry dude but Obama is polling at 50% in today's Gallup tracking poll. This spreading the wealth mantra actually plays well with the middle class who are sick and tired of seeing their wealth ripped off by the pigs.

I would like to see two points addressed more clearly from Obama's team. First, put the tax increases for the top 5 percent into perspective. Compare the proposed tax rates at this level to Reagan's highest tax brackets and to Clinton's tax brackets, when we had balanced budgets. That would take much of the starch out of the "socialist" argument.

The second item I'd like Obama's team to point out more vividly is how the Bush tax cuts resulted in the greatest redistribution of wealth ever: from the middle and lower classes to the upper class. Point out in a 30-second commercial how the top 5 percent increased their wealth substantially while middle and lower class wages have actually dropped.

Now, MisterEd, this doesn't mean I believe Obama's run a horrid campaign. Just points that Obama could better clarify as I'm trying to convince some of my McCain-supporting friends to vote for Obama.

Please see Colin Powell's comments after his MTP appearance:

"I was troubled a couple of weeks ago, when, in the middle of the crisis, the (McCain) campaign said 'We're gonna go negative.' and they announced it! 'We are going to attack and his character through Bill Ayers.'

And now I guess the message this week is 'We're gonna call him a socialist' Mr. Obama is now a socialist - because he dares to suggest that maybe we ought to look at the tax structure that we have. Taxes are always a redistribution of money. Most of the taxes that are redistributed go back to those who pay them - in roads, airports, hospitals and schools. And taxes are necessary for the common good and there is nothing wrong with examining what our tax structure is and who should be paying more or who should be paying less. And for us to say 'That makes you a socialist' I think is an unfortunate characterization that isn't accurate.

I don't want my taxes raised I don't want anybody elses taxes raised - but I also want to see our infrastructure fixed. I don't want to have a 12 trillion dollar national debt. I don't want to see an annual deficit that is over 5 hundred billion dollars - heading towards a trillion. So how do we deal with all of this?"

And the stupid reporter's follow up question? "Are you still a republican?" to which Colin Powell responded in a dignified fashion "Yes".
