DAMN IT, HBO!
Today I ended my subscription to HBO in disgust over their actions to remove clips from YouTube of the inaugural concert claiming copyright ownership rights. HBO, do you want to be viewed as a member of our country's community or not?
I will not resubscribe, purchase DVDs, or spend my money on anything owned, sponsored or sold by HBO unless they agree to freely share this historic moment with the world.

The more I think about this, the more it gores my goat.
I didn't work as hard as I did for Obama's election so that HBO or anybody else could turn the success of those efforts into something they subsequently feel they can charge me for admission to relive the history.
Our work was based on volunteerism and a desire to make our world a better place through change. HBO's selfish attitude is more of the same and I reject it.
I am deeply and thoroughly offended by HBO's action.

If I understand the TV deal correctly, HBO does not own the rights to the footage. The Presidential Inaugural Committee does. HBO just has a six-month exclusivity agreement.
Therefore, your pique may be better directed at the PIC.

Thanks for talking me off the ledge, especially if what you say is true. I would gladly part with the dough if I knew it benefited the cause.
Also, I have found nothing I miss about HBO anyway. Good riddance to them.
