Obama's Press Conference Sucks

I don't get it. Obama has reverted to his speaking style of his early days in Iowa. When he gave his opening statement, his eyes just darted back and forth to the sides but never once met the viewing public. And when he's answering questions he pretends it makes any sense to make 20 points in response to a question, and again solely looks from side to side rather than into the cameras to connect with the public. Jesus F**k. It was this style that temporarily moved me to Hillary. But after many folks asked his campaign what the hell was going on, and why he could only dart his eyes from side to side as he talked, he corrected the problem. Wwe need a president that looks us in the eyes, and communicates in a easy style. What the hell is going on?? You can watch the whole press conference from beginning to end, and not once do his eyes meet yours. Not once. You're a lawyer Obama. You know you need to meet the jury's eyes. What the hell are you doing and what is your staff remotely thinking in throwing you out there like that at a time like this. And stop repeating yourself four times on each point.

Pelosi's comments that there is no room for Obama's health care reform is beyond acceptable.

Obama's health care plan was a significant part of the reason I spent much of the last year volunteering and advocating for Obama. And now Pelosi steps in, before all the votes are even counted, to announce that it won't be pursued in the house. Is she for real? Why in the world does she want to try to force Obama to break his promise to us? Some of my friends speculate that because it doesn't include free Botox she doesn't see anything in it for herself. But I think the real reason is she wants to try to move quickly to try to put Obama in his place and flex a little muscle. It's despicable she would do this with people's health and lives. But she does have a reputation of being purely cynical, so maybe this really doesn't matter to her. And my guess is she is clueless of the level of anger her actions will release.

There is a great story up on RawStory detailing their interview of the whistleblower who was fired after alerting the feds to C. McCain stealing drugs from her charity. The link is at the bottom. The whistleblower supports his account with a contemporaneously kept journal which he has also now released. He asserts he kept quiet until now because the McCain's destroyed his career when he brought her theft and drug use to light, and is only now in a position where he doesn't think they can hurt him further. Here is one of his journal entries that gives a flavor of the story where he is contemplating if the charity for which he and McCain work, should continue, "I have mixed emotions about what I believe should happen to AVMT," Gosinski wrote in one of his last journal entries in December 1992. "It does not deserve to continue to exist as it is currently being operated -- it is a very expensive toy for a very disturbed lady. Cindy has use (sic) the organization for self-promotion and as a source for the drugs to which she is addicted."
And this "As summer turns toward autumn, the charity becomes an outgrowth of John McCain's senate re-election campaign, with travel and scheduling coordinated by aides on his campaign and senate staffs, Gosinski writes.

"I have never been so aware of the amount of insincerity behind a political campaign as I am now with John McCain's reelection campaign," he writes on Sept. 3, 1992. "Everything Cindy McCain does is politically motivated and driven by the almighty 'photo op.' I'm one of those who has always cringed when politicians got asked questions, and then responded with their talking points that often had nothing to do with the questions. But I now find myself cringing when I hear Obama being interviewed and almost wish he just had some talking points he would spew.
It happened Sunday on This Week, and last night with Olberman. He has dropped into a pattern of always given a "reflective" answer that often starts out with a laugh, followed by some ums, and then a response at least a paragraph long with unnecessary details that simply won't work as a sound bite.
Senator Obama, please stop putting the meat of your answers at the end. Start off with it for God's sake.  Oberman repeatedly tried to get you to give direct and crisp responses last night, and you laughed at him. It makes you look defensive and undecisive.  And you're a good enough attorney to know that you start out with an attention getter, and then supply the facts. How have you forgotten this?? And why isn't you're staff bringing it to your attention?? You can always laugh at the end. You can always be reflective at the end. But if people zone out on your professorial approach and you're ums as you reflect on the question they will never hear the meat.
For example. When you get quesitons about whether Palin is prepared to be commander in chief why not start out with the obvious.  "No one who won't take questions from the public and the press is qualified to lead our country. We're a democracy. Not a dictatorship."   You can then reflect as much as you want on the follow ups.
And I'm sure you can do better than this. But what I don't get is why you don't have responses prepared to start out your answers that give the strongest aspects of arguments in favor of voting for you. It's basic. It's fundamental. And you can still be reflective and laugh. But for the love of God start off with the meat!

McCain expands on Ebay jet sale lie saying it was at a profit

Like the other lies Palin continues to assert, the assertion she sold the state's jet on ebay continued today. More significantly, though, in Wisconsin, after she introduced McCain, he, in saying how wonderful she was, expanded on the lie. Specifically, he asserted that not only did she sell the jet on ebay, but that she did it at a profit. Well, a Kos diary has already noted the jet didn't move on e-bay, and that it, a $2.7 million dollar jet, was ultimately sold far below its asking price at $2.1 million, with the third party broker taking a cut. I haven't seen a link to McCain's expanded lie, but it was shown live on both MSNBC and CNN this a.m., both of which were carrying the event live.
I simply don't get how one who is honorable, can take a lie, add another lie, and still be treated by the press as honest. He's not, and she's not. They are instead both knowing liars.

Well, it looks like MSNBC has chosen to go with a crappy and choppy time delayed feed for the convention. Next time they are showing someone speaking compare the quality by switching back and forth to PBS. It had the effect of making Nancy Pelosi look like she was jerking and diverting her eyes back and forth. What a bunch of shit. So watch another network when Michelle comes on. It almost feels as if McCain is holding the camera its so jerky.
