Deep thought: Sockpuppets

What are the odds that those corporations with vested interests in the status quo of the healthcare system in the US, have unleashed their droids and drones as we speak, in an attempt to direct and deflect the discussion of reform on blogs such as TPM?  Maybe it's just coincidence, but a lot of new user-names seem to be coming out of the woodwork in favor of putting the kaibosh on healthcare reform.

Hah . . .

The way those weasels work I'd venture to say even money.

By the way ...

While speaking about the health insurance weasels, don't miss this one at my blog.

Hah! Schumer to Health Insurers - Pony-Up or Shut Up!

Maybe ol' Chuck can borrow that sock of yours and stuff it in the weasels' pieholes...

Does anyone know how to get me one of them jobs?

Here's my resume

Work History

Saladin, TPM (11/08-7/09)

Engaged in numerous debates and occasional flame wars with blowhards.
Developed multiple crushes on numerous econ geeks with chick avatars.
Occasionally inciteful
Sometimes drinking
pour speller.

I have a couple followers so that should give me a little street cred when trolling.

Skills

I type good
read good too

Super Bonus troll feature:
I Really really love to post links to my favorite Ayn Rand work.

Okay, wheres the cash? And none of this bs cigs and booze that they pay Mr. Q.Esquire and DD with. I want $$$.

user-pic

Ask Lalo.

user-pic

Thanks for the beach read suggestion, Saladin. ;-)

user-pic

I don't know Miguelito... seems possible but it also seems like the strangest folks come out late at night (who me?)

Freedomhasvalue (an apparently new personality on TPM) just posted a full of crap link on our single payer healthcare blog (Gregor will be reposting it next).

We are excited about raising the money to sending Gumbun to the rally on July 30th and she is already joining me in making other efforts to support others attending the rally. We are hoping to send more people to represent us there.

I thought you mentioned you might make an appearance in DC for the rally. Let me know if you want to hook up with other TPM folks if you do:)

I like the sock puppet in your photo. The idea of sock puppets was new to me until a few months ago. I had wondered whether I should have one but I can't think of a use for one...

user-pic

I live in DC, so count me in on a meet up for the rally. I've been known to barbecue as well and live within walking distance of the Capital. :O)

user-pic

Sweet Jason! Can you email me synchronicity@yeswecan.com so that I can put people in touch with you that we know will be there. Three of you so far but we are just getting started with this effort. Thanks!

user-pic

Email on the way.....

user-pic

Scared me for a sec Miguel. I thought you found a picture of my least favorite mother-in-law.

The commercials I picked up from cable news are nothing but 'swift boaters' going at it again. Sure they will shore up the 25% conservative pricks who form the core of the repub party---but so what. I mean their ads are soooooooooooo phony, they are not going to sway the independents, the people who have had trouble with their own insurers, the people who have nothing....

Any rate, you got me laughin...I mean with the hand puppet and your avatar.........

YOU SHOULD GO ON THE ROAD!!!!!!!!!

user-pic

Always traveling dreams, Miguel. They never lie.

user-pic

Reich's thread is a prime example.

user-pic

Twas what inspired this post bwak.

user-pic

Yez, it was in Reich's thread not too long ago that I thought TPM had been Drudged a la November of '06, the date of our last infamous Drudge attack.

Sock Puppets everywhere!

user-pic

My avatar looks like a droid but it's just the unworldly light in Second Life, and my inability to turn around. Always looking forward, not back.

user-pic

And what a great set of headlights you've got to help you look forward Molly.

user-pic

Miguel, are you sayin' that my highbeams are on? It's really just an optical illusion.

user-pic

What are the odds? The odds are 3 sockpuppets for every post on healthcare by a no-name blogger, 10 sockpuppets for every professor.

user-pic

I'll raise you 4 sockpuppets, and a blowhard.

user-pic

Trust thyself! 'Twoud not be the first time!

user-pic

You are probably right. If so, let 'em in... it is a waste of energy and resources because there are very few fence-sitters in the real world, let alone a progressive enclave like TPM. I daresay our minds are fixed like the northern star.

user-pic

Not to worry about letting people in or keeping them out if purple sand teapot shucksters abound in TPMland, or the likes of fake Margaret who wants to consolidate my debt.

user-pic

Sock it to me baby!

user-pic
user-pic

Did I say you could post this?

Bad puppet.

One week in the drawer.

user-pic

Just like it was when I was a child. 'To your drawer" they always ordered me, all imperial and like. And now they have the nerve to tell me I'm maladjusted.

user-pic

He just wants to take over the front page. Pure pig puppet pompousness.

THAT'S WHAT I SAY

user-pic

You know DD, I threw this post up last night before turning in after reading and responding to numerous of these SPs in Robert Reich's blog, and I never thought it would make it to the top of the list. My other blog today was composed on my laptop following my wake-up this morning out at my Airstream in the Chihuahuan desert in a half stupor, while mulling over the various responses on that blog. Who'd a thunk they would both strike a chord with the readership here today?

user-pic

I know, but that is what I love about this place.

Sometimes I will spend five hours on something.....and little response.

Then I get mad or start laughin at something and an hour or two later its up and I hit 60 or 80 comments

hhahahaha fun

user-pic

Swordfish, every one of 'em! Swordfish wearing asshats! Trucknuts! Buttsects!

user-pic

Also.

user-pic

You can't prove nuttin'. But did I mention Sarah Palin, Afghanistan, Cream of Wheat and Monkberry Moon Delight?

user-pic

Yum! MMD... so close to that smiley guy's avatar, WMD.

user-pic

So if I post under the default avatar do I get a troll badge too? LMAO.

But seriously, if we had applied the same rules a century ago that they want to use now for why we can't have single payer health care a we'd all still be riding horses (wouldn't that make downtown major metro's a sweet place?...ok so I did grow up on a farm and I'd love to see these prissy's deal with some of the "scents of nature"). For you see when some asshole inveneted the "horseless carriage" every town, city and bourough had at least one, if not many, highly competent blacksmiths...picture a union of dark browed, heavily muscled men carrying really really big hammers (down Thera...lol). these poor chaps went out of business left right and sideways in less than a decade. Somtimes progess hurts some sectors as they become irrelvant...and boy would I like to make insurance companies irrelevant...I didn't say that and I was never here...

We now return you to your reguallry scheduled entertainment....carry on

user-pic

You can't use historical fact to make a reasonable argument. It's not fair.

user-pic

Or reasonable.

user-pic

facts. :)

user-pic

And did you ever see that Sylvester Stallone movie where his brother hauls this huge block of ice up this endless staircase and the lady opens the door to show him her new refrigerator? He drops the block and it crashes down the stairs, the light and the reflections and the sounds. It was just beautiful. But no one delivers ice anymore either. It's called evolution. Or at least, I call it that. :-{)>

user-pic

Great post (and comments)... heh!

Meanwhile, back at the ranch:

For those seeking to attend events posted at MyBarackObama.com (aka MyBo) please note that trollsters have been posting faux events in the desperate hope of initiating a wild goose stampede.

Besides which, some of them have appeared in person at legitimate health care reform events... spotted one right off at the local Health Care Reform Kick-off meeting last weekend. He spent the entire two and half hours pounding out every conceivable Republican talking point ver batim with the rather obvious intention of disrupting the meeting.

Mild mannered physicians were considering helping him out of his misery Kavorkian-style, and the elderly lady next to me was maybe old school thinking tar and feathers.

Prior to attending events, verify contact info Also, consider the source... Jo Blo turned out to be a bad actor.

user-pic

What deplorable behavior. Did he really think he deserved 2.5 hours of everyone else's time?!?

user-pic

Sock List:

Max Baucus - Sock!
Mick Ross - Sock!
Any of the Senate Republicans - Sock! Sock! SOCK!

SOCK!

user-pic

I was Socked!

MIKE ROSS!

SOCK!

user-pic

Sock it to em!!!!!!!!!! All of those asshats that don't know their elbows from their heels - LOL. On with health care reform.........

user-pic

haha, Me thinks they are more interested in wealth care reform?

user-pic

Arguing facts with sock puppets is a waste of time and facts. How about we reply to each SP post with:

Kthnxbai!!

user-pic

On some level I feel obligated to counter their arguments, lest the myriad anonymous folks passing through think we are conceding a point. After I've wasted the better part of an afternoon, it could easily end in Kthnxbai!!

user-pic

Heh...

All the John Galts around here lately remind me of the old Kukla, Fran and Ollie show.

user-pic

That and Sherri Lewis and Lambchop, only not quite so benign.

user-pic

S'ok?

S'alright....

S'ok??

S'ALRIGHT!

s'ok...

user-pic

Now that reminds me of this guy. Kinda creepy.
