WHat strikes me about this interview is the way Obama's spirituality is a dynamic process, always moving forward, considering things from another angle. There are moments where he describes being in conversation with God or feeling a higher power when he's doing/saying the right thing. I can imagine some people jumping on that, claiming Obama thinks he's some sort of prophet. But he always moves from that to uncertainty, caution about dogmatism, and openness to other views and traditions. In short, Obama's faith is deep and serious, but also thoughtful and reflective. Anyone who thinks that right and wrong mean something, whatever language they use to express that, should be able to respect his approach.

Strangely, I haven't been able to bring myself to volunteer, because my nerves have been so tied up. What I found though is the (mere) 2 hours I spent was the best anxiety relief I've found. Maybe the 3 or 4 half-hearted folks I talked to will be energized and swing the election here in Indiana! That was my thought, followed immediately by, How many people could I have reached in the last month!?!? Ahhh, there is no escape, but it is delicious anticipation too. I'll never forget 2008.

And now, having read the post, thanks again. I hadn't really thought much about this dynamic. Since early voting was such a big part of Obama's GOTV strategy, I guess that partly explains these numbers (also gives a good indicator of the effectiveness of his ground operation). Also, this tells me (as you say in your response above) that McCain's support is obviously much softer. If enough of those people waiting to hold their nose and pull the lever on election day decide it's a done deal, this election could really be a blowout, beyond what any poll predicts.

I believe we have reason to suspect these numbers from Florida. FIrst, there are about 650,000 more registered Democrats than Republicans in Florida. And second, the polls are solidly in Obama's favor. Wo why is Florida in such stark contrast to other states?

I went back and read the article more carefully. After detailing early voting statistics in various states, the article states that Republicans have requested 220,000 more absentee ballots. Well, I checked the Florida Division of Elections website, and it turns out that Florida has both early voting and absentee voting. No mention in the article about early voting stats from Florida (in contrast to all the other states mentioned). So let's wait and get more information before we panic.

It could be bin Laden, possibly this photo:

bin Laden closeup

But if so, everything has been blurred except around the eyes, and the photo has been doctored to look more like Obama. Sick.

Sorry if I didn't post the link correctly--it doesn't look right when I preview it--but it's the best I can do. Cut and paste this if you need to:
