Will Obama stand-up for these kids?
In case you missed today's WSJ, this is an excellent article on vouchers.

Thank you - I have figured out how to do what you just did.
Is there a way to edit my original post?

Arithmetic word problem:
If a school district has 52,000 students (like say the District of Columbia), and gives vouchers to 2,000 students to attend private or charter schools, how many children get left behind?
Vouchers don't resolve the basic problem of improving our public education system. They focus on appeasing politicians who can use them for political gain, promote continued white flight from schools and argue the "strawman" that vouchers fix failing schools run by the teachers union.

Vouchers may not solve the problem for all 52,000 students but they sure help some students. Why does it have to be one or the other? Why can't we keep the voucher program plus also fix the public schools?

Question: "Why can't we keep the voucher program plus also fix the public schools?"
Answer: 29,422 v 7,500
That's the tuition at the school mentioned in the WSJ Op-Ed you mention, and the size of the voucher the kids got, to go to that private school.
Is there anyone at the GOP willing to recommend that level of funding per student, to attract thhose kinds of teachers, and build those kinds of facilities?
In other words, in the 'Who's FOR America's future?' shouting contest, are you willing to put your money, and everybodyelse's, where your mouth is?
The solution is more complicated than 'tear down all the public schools and hand out vouchers.' The GOP just doesn't want to admit it.

I'm not saying we should tear down the public schools and hand out vouchers. But those kids in the op-ed piece somehow got the rest of the money from somewhere. Again - my question is why kill the voucher program? Why force those kids to go to the public school?
