New US Census numbers illuminate the reason/reality for teabagger's fear & despair:

What the above linked article does not explain is that counting people is not the same as measuring political power. Hence, while it may be that white Americans become an official minority in 2050, give or take a few years, per census counts, the diminishment to political minority status will come much sooner. In fact, Obama's election in 2008 may well be the tipping point vis-a-vis white American race-based political power. And to this, as a white American, I say, DEO GRATIAS! The data suggests that the disconnect between census numbers & political power is demographically based on age. Younger white Americans are generally less defined by their race than older white Americans who are essentially today's teabaggers.
None of the above is to suggest that we are now in smooth-sailing territory and it may well take another 20 years until the white bigot demographic is effectively relegated to a permanent, functional minority political status. The question now becomes, when will the GOP attempt to add white bigot to the Civil Rights Act of 1964? It should, also, be noted that "white bigot" is more than about race; rather it is about sex (anti-woman), sexualities (homophobic), education (below average), geography (red state), and religion (extremist, faux-Christianity).
Final thought: It took Lincoln in the 1860s to "free" the slaves; it took Kennedy and Johnson in the 1960s to set-up the conditions by which full equality becomes a reality in the 21st century. It is this reality that explains the GOP since the rise of the "southern strategy" in 1968 to its current antics in 2009.
