It's pretty obvious to me "why americans like [you] are always picking the wrong candidate for the white house.

This is hysterical.
The right screams OBAMA IS TOO LIBERAL! WE ARE DOOMED!
The left screams -LOOK WHO IS PICKING FOR HIS CABINET, I THOUGHT WE ELECTED A LIBERAL! WE ARE DOOMED!
So both extremes are not happy. Sounds just about right to me ;)

It's 19 and snowing in NW PA. Oh, to be in the south of France right down. Barcelona would be even better.

I suppose it's a bad time to mention that it's 81 and clear skies where I am.
I'd trade you PA when it hits 120 in the summer, though.

We need your snow!!!!! Ski season is sucking! (nothing like a ski hill nearby to change your attitude about snow)

I suggeset opening your eyes to see how Bush really didn't go after al queda in a real, substantive way. I also suggest perusing multiple news sources so that you come to understand the real level of destruction that the Bush/Cheney adminstration has inficted on this country. GW Bush has been such an awful prsident that President Elect Obama can do better without even trying.

I'd suggest he acquire some basic reasoning skills and English grammar first, with a remedial spelling course tossed in the mix for good measure.
And some good antipsychotics, of course.

Not enough antioxidants? Columbia should've stocked up on orange juice.

We need to know whether he was an ion or a cation. It is vital to the American people to know whether Obama really is as positive as he claims.

Obama is the most conservative democrat elected to the presidency since Truman or JFK. Don't let the "most liberal senator" talking point fool you.
No one who can't afford it will have their taxes raised. In fact, perhaps we should go back to the top marginal rate under Reagan - around 50% for most of his presidency.
You need to add some additional resources to your reading list. I suggest Audacity of Hope if you think Barack is liberal. That should help dispel that notion very fast.

did you get what you wanted here, babe? or are you still looking for more attention?

What a moron? I think low traffic at the user blogs helps retards like this get to the rec list.
December 5, 2008 4:05 PM | Reply | Permalink
Seems it only takes 3 recommends to make it to the list these days. That's only slightly more difficult than making it onto the terrorist no-fly list.

Two recommends. My idiotic post on Mark Halperin is still up there. Is it Friday? Yes, indeed!

Who? What? Where? Those free radicals are really hard to clear up. I have found a really good workout with lots of sweat will help, then a nice long warm (not hot) shower. And I have heard about the OJ treatment. If you smoke you should quit - smoking makes the free radicals party down. Maybe some other folks here at TPM will come up with other ideas to help with your free radical problem. I wouldn't put too much stock in the skin creams though - I think it is more internal if you get what I mean.

OK, seriously, there needs to be a 10 recommend minimum to get on the rec list or something similar. TPM reader-posters must be more educated than the posters on Free Republic, right? You wouldn't know it from this recommended post. Sigh.

OK, I am going to educate you if you will read this:
We could do much worse than to "look like the Europeans."
Europeans don't have any idea what a car pool is. Why? Because they have a comprehensive and affordable public transportation system. It takes people to work; children to school; people shopping, and even on vacations. It is clean, fast and on time. Oh, and cheap. People depend on it because they don't all have cars. (Does the gov't help it? No more than OUR gov't supports the airlines, the trucking industry, and highways)
Soccer (football) practice? It is in the neighborhood; people don't have to arrange things from miles away to play games. And let's see..who does better at soccer? The US, or just about any country in Europe? I guess we wouldn't want to look like those Europeans, would we?
NEXT: Health Care -- You choose from 3 scenartios: Fall down in your own house and break your back here in the US, or at Saks 5th Avenue, or in Europe. All terrible situations, but let's look at them: Scenario I, you eventually lose your job (and your health insurance because you have a chronic injury. You spend all your assets, sell your house, and eventually qualify for Medicaid, while your family drifts downward in every way possible. Scenario II: You sue Saks for millions and everything is just ducky. Scenario III: You get good care, your family can stay in their home and get educated, and life goes on.
I kinda like the Euro-method, because I just might not be able to get someone to drive me to Saks (after I break my back), and drape me at the bottom of the escalator.
Bottom line: Europeans have a concept of the common good, and it shows in the way they live their lives.
This Republican idea that if you are filthy rich it is because you are better and more deserving than those who aren't has perverted the original idea that a person could just work hard enough and they would be successful. But now there is a mindset that the opposite must be true: If you are NOT successful you must be unworthy -- that seems to me to be the republican mantra.
We do some things better than they do in Europe (not food, not childcare, not health-care, or public transportation) but to trash them because of their lifestyle, which includes free college for all who can qualify; healthcare for all, and trains that run on time, is a xenophobic and ignorant. So they pay a higher tax. No one has to save a fortune to educate their children. No one has to pay for nursing homes for their parents.
The only thing I can think of that we actually do better is that our universities are superior to theirs. Not an inconsequential thing; that is why so many of them come here: Paid for by their country if the student is smart enough to qualify. If they aren't, they just don't go to college. Not here; not there.
